The Regular Meeting of the City Council of the City of
Edgewater, Florida was called to order by Mayor John H.
Gibhs at 7:30 P.N.

Motion bJ Councilman Haughton these bills be paid and be made
a part of the minutes, seconded by Councilman Hussey and by
vote CAHRI.8D.
COM1'~UNICA TIONS
A letter from the American Red Cross asking for donations for
the Greek disaster was read. Also Mayor Gibbs stated the Red
Cross had ask for help for Eugene White. A collection was
taken up and i20.00 turned over to Attorney Chisholm for this
cause.
ORDINANCE /141
AN ORDINANCE ill\':ENJING S BCTION 7 (d), of ORDINANCE NO. e OF THE
CITY OF EDG~WAT~R, FLORIDA BY ADDING AN AJJITIONAL PROHIBITION.
The above ordinance was read in full and passed by the vote of
the City Council of the City of Edgewater, Florida at a regular
meeting on the 26th day of August A.J. 1953.
Upon motionduly made by Councilman Shaeffer and seconded by
Councilman Fuller, and unanimously carried the requirement of
reading said ordinance upon second reading was waived, and. the
. ordinance was ordered put upon final passage.
Passed by the vote of the City Council of the City of idgewater,
Florida, at a regular meeting of said Council held on the 26th
day of Au~ust, i.J. 1953 and approved as provided by Law, the
vote of said Council on roll call ~eing as follows:

RESOLUTIONS
A RESOLUTION APPOINTING A CLERK, INSPECTORS AND SPECIAL OFFICER
FOR A SPECIAL ELECTION TO BE HELD SEPT8IvIBEH 1st, 1953.
The above and foregoing Resolution was read in full appointing
Mrs. Lydia LaBonde Clerk, Mrs. Olive Parker, Mrs. George Lear
and Mrs. Annie Roberts Inspectors and William Scisco as a
Special Officer.

as read, seconded by Councilman Haughton and by vote CARRIED.

NEW BUSINESS
Councilman Shaeffer read a letter defining the Charter Changes
and made a ~otion to have the City Clerk prepare, sign same and
mail a copy to every voter of Edgewater. Seconjed by Councilman
Haughton and by vote CARRIgD. Roll call vote beinE as follows:-

Councilman Shaeffer stated.he was having Knapp Ave. opened as
he had advised Mr. Toy if he cleared his property he would have
Knapp Ave. opened up. He stated he had conferred with other
Councilmen and Mr. Edwards had given him a price of ~lOO.OO
to do the work which 110uld not be bille;i to the City until after
the new budget went into effect in November. Mr. Edwards re-
commended putting in a 36" Tube 120 Ft. .lide while he was doing
the work and Councilman Shaeffer said he had conferred with
Mr. Saxon the the tube was available at a price of ~115.00
Motion by Councilman Fuller '~e appropriate ~115.00 for this Tube,
seconded by Councilman Hussey and by vote CARRI~D. Roll call

Applications for Building Inspector were ask for. There being
none a Motion was made by Councilman Hussey to appoint Mr.
Adolph LaBonde,who has been working temporarily on this job to
be Building Inspector. Seconded by Councilman Haughton and by
vote CARRIED. Roll call vote being as follows:-

Councilman Shaeffer recommended we have the man from Volusia
Tractor & Implement Co. come over and give a demonstration
of a cutter. He was to be contacted and arrangements made
for a date for the demonstration.
There being no further business Councilman Shaeffer moved we
do now adjourn, seconded by Councilman Hussey and by vote
CARRIED. .
