MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING OF THE CITY
COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF EDGEWATER, FLORIDA
HELD July 22nd, 1953.
The Regular Meeting of the City Council of the City of Edgewater,
Florida was called to order by Mayor John H. Gibbs at 7:30 P.M.

The minutes of the Regular Meeting held July 8th, and a Special
Meeting held July 20th, 1953 were read. Motion by Councilman
Shaeffer these minutes stand approved as read, seconded by Council-
man Hussey and by vote CARRIED.

Motion by Councilman Hussey these bills be paid and be made a
part of the rinutes, seconded by Councilman Shaeffer and by vote
CARRIED.
ORDINANCES
AN ORDINANCE APPROPRIATING REVENUES TO BE COLLECTED BY THE CITY OF
EDGEWATER, VOLUSIA COUNTY, FLORIDA FOil THE FISCAL YEAR BEGINNING
NOVEMBER 1, 1953 AND .,ENDING OCTOBER 31st, 1954, TO THE VARIOUS ITEl'(S
OF THE CITY BUDGET. ff37. .
The above Ordinance was read in full by Attorney Chisholm. Motion
by Councilman Hussey to adopt the above Ordinance as read. Motion
withrl~awn. Motion was then made by Councilman Shaeffer to table this
Ordinance until a full council was in session. Seconded by Council-
man Hussey and bl vote CARRIED.
ORDINANCE #38 PROVIDING FOR THE RATE OF TAXATION FOR ALL PROPERTY
IN THE CITY OF EDGE~v'ATER, VOLUSIA COUNTY, FLORIDA FOH THE YEAR A.D.
1953, AND AUTHOHIZING THE NOTIFICATION OF THE ~.aLLAGE TO THE TAX
ASSESSOR OF VOLUSIA COUNTY, FLORIDA.
The above Ordinance was read in full and passed by the vote of the
City Council of the City of Edgewater, Florida at a regular meeting
on the 22nd day of July 1953.
Upon motion duly made by 60uncilman Shaeffer and seconded by Council-
man Hussey and carried the requirement of reading said Ordinance
upon second reading was waived, and the Ordinance was ordered put
upon final pass~ge.

THE SEIZURE, CONFISCATION, AND CONDEMNATION AND DESTRUCTION FOR
FobD PURPOSES OF UNINSPECTED, DISEASED, UNSOUND OR OTHERWISE UNFIT
FOOD, ENFORCEMENT OF RULES AND REGULATIONS BY THE HEALTH OFFICER
IN THE ADNINSTRATION OF THIS ACT, PENALTY FOR VIOLATION AND RE~:<

The above Ordinance was read in full and passed by the vote of the
City Council of the City of ~dgewater, Florida at a Hegular Meeting
held on the 22nd day of July 1953.
Upon motion duly made by Councilman Shaeffer and .seconded by Council-
man Hussey and carried the requirement of reading said Ordinance upon
second reading was waived, and the Ordinance was ordered put upon

RESOLUTION
A RESOLUTION DEDICATING CERTAIN PROPERTY OF THE ClTY OF EDGEWATER,
VOLUSIA COUNTY, FLORIJA AS THE SITE OF A CON1"1UNITY CENTER.
The above Resolution was read in full and Councilman Shaeffer moved
this resolution be tabled until the next meeting, seconded by
Councilman Hussey and by vote CARRIED.
OLD BUSINESS
Mayor Gibbs announced again that Mr. Loveland and Mr. Small were
selling Cigarettes under prices in other stores and ask that every-
one patronize them as the City received 50 cents on every carton
sold.
NEW BUSINESS
A discussion on the Community Center followed.
There being no further .business Councilman Shaeffer moved we do now
adjourn, seconded by Councilman Gibbs and by vote CARRIED.
