The Regular Meeting of the City Council of the City of Edgewater, Florida was called to order by Mayor John H. Gibbs at 7:30 P. M. Invocation was delivered by Rev. Hinton. Deputy Clerk Ruth Driskel City Attorney John Chisholm Police Officer Frank Norman Street Supervisor John Wood Present Absent Absent Present Present Present Present Present Absent The minutes of the Regular Meeting held June 10th, 1953 were read.' Motion by Councilman Haughton these minutes stand approved as read, seconded by Councilman Hussey and by vote CARRIED. BILLS & ACCOUNTS City of New Smyrna Beach George Driskel Southern Bell Tele. & Teleg. Co. Ruth Driskel John Chisholm McMurray Service Station $112.79 8.75 33.14 .65 75.00 73.69 Motion by Councilman Hussey these bills be paid and be made a part of the minutes, seconded by Councilman Haughton and by vote CARRIED. COMMUNICATIONS The Deputy Clerk read three letters, one from Harry Meyer of Daytona Beach and a letter from Dan Bagley Jr. of Lakeland, Florida stating complaints against the Bonded Shippers in Edgewater. Also a letter from John Ferris, City Manager of New Smyrna Beach asking for a contribution to help defray expenses for the Recreational Center on the Beach. A Motion by Councilman Haughton that a donation of $100.00 be given to' New Smyrna Beach City Manager to be used to help defray expenses of the Childrens Recreational Program seconded by Councilman Hussey and by vote CARRIED. Mayor Gibbs read the Sanitation Report on the Bonded Shippers that was inspected by Police Officer Frank Norman. Mr. Cozens of the New Smyrna Beach Chamber of Commerce gave a report on complaints against the Bonded Shippers. After a lengthly discussion in regards to said conditions a motion by Councilman Hussey instructing Attorney John Chisholm to take action to the Board of Agriculture. Councilman Hussey withdrew his motion when informed by Mayor Gibbs, an examination of the Bonded Shippers was being made by Mr. Easterling of the Volusia County Health Unit. r; c, (..I. u u There being no further business Councilman Hussey moved we do now adjourn, seconded by Councilman Haughton and by vote CARRIED.
