The Regular Meeting of the City Council of the City of Edgewater, Florida was called to order by Mayor John H. Gibbs at 7:30 P. M. Invocation by Rev. Hinton. ROLL CALL Mayor-Councilman John H. Motion by Councilman Hussey these minutes stand approved as read, Seconded by Councilman Haughton and by vote CARRIED. BILLS & ACCOUNTS Florida Power & Light Co. Edgewater Motors Orlando Fuel Oil Co. Volusia Tractor & Implement Co. $ 7.72 74.57 3.75 8.48 2.00 .28 1.96 1.50 23.50 Motion by Councilman Shaeffer these bills be paid and be made a part of the minutes, seconded by Councilman Fuller and by vote CARRIED. OFFICERS REPORT The Clerk read the Budget Report and the Clerk's Cash Statement. COMMUNICATIONS A letterwas read from Attorney Hemphill thanking Frank Norman for the courtesy and kindness shown Mr. & Mrs. E. C. Gillespie who were involved in an auto accident in our City. A letter was also read commending Officer Leslie on his attitude and fairness regarding a minor traffic violation. Also a letter from C. J~ Patche, Sec. of the Edgewater Volunteer Fire Department asking for a donation to help defray expenses of the Fire Works display to be sponsered by the Fire Department on July 4th. A motion was made by Councilman Hussey that a donation of $125.00 be made to the Fire Department. A discussion followed and Councilman Hussey withdrew his motion. A motion was then made by Councilman Fuller $250.00 be made to help defray the expenses Seconded by Councilman Shaeffer and by vote Roll Call Vote being as follows:- Councilman Fuller Councilman Shaeffer Councilman Haughton Councilman Hussey Mayor-Councilman Gibbs that a donation of of 4th of July. CARRIED. Yes Yes Yes Yes Yes " ~ u u o NEW BUSINESS The Clerk was instructed to write a letter to Mr. Toy of Pocahontas, Va. stating if he would clear his lots in the Raulerson Sub. and Sanchez-sheppard Grant, the City would open the rest of Knapp Ave. Mr. Hanson, President of the Volunteer Fire Department ask that the Council" accept recommendations for the appoint- ment of Fire Chief. After a discussion a motion was made by Councilman Fuller to amend the present Ordinance which states "The Council shall appoint a Fire Chief, to read "The Fire Chief shall be appointed upon recommendation of the majority vote of the Volunteer Firemen". Seconded by Councilman Haughton and by vote CARRIED.
