MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING OF THE
CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF EDGEWATER,
FLORIDA HELD MARCH 25th, 1953.
The Regular Meeting of the City Council of the City of Edgewater,
Florida was called to order by Mayor John H. Gibbs at 7:30 P.M.
Invocation was delivered by Dr. Clifford.

Present
Minutes of the Regular Meeting held March 11th, and two Special
Meetings held March 11th and March 16th were read. Motion by
Councilman Shaeffer these minutes stand approved as read, seconded
by Councilman Haughton and by vote CARRIED.

Motion by Councilman Haughton these bills be paid and be made a part
of the minutes, seconded by Councilman Hussey and by vote CARRIED.
ORDINANCE
AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF EDGEWATER, FLORIDA, RELATING TO FEDERAL OLD
AGE AND SURVIVORS INSURANCE.
The above ordinance was read in full and passed by the vote of the City
Council of the City of Edgewater, Florida at a regular meeting on the
25th day of March, A.D. 1953.
Upon motion duly made by Councilman Hussey and seconded by Councilman
Haughton and unanimously carried the requirement of reading said ordinance
upon second reading was waived, and the ordinance was ordered put upon
final passage.
Passed by the vote of the City Council of the City of Edgewater, Florida
at a regular meeting of said Council held on the 25th day of March A.D.
1953 and approved as provided by Law, the vote of said Council on Roll
Call being as follows:-

RESOLUTION
A RESOLUTION SETTING FORTH CERTAIN REGULATIONS AS TO THE INTERNAL
ADMINISTRATION OF THE FIRE DEPARTMENT OF THE CITY OF EDGEWATER,
FLORIDA, AND PROHIBITING THE ANSWERING OF CERTAIN TYPES OF FIRE
ALARMS.
The above and foregoing Resolution was read in full. Councilman
Hussey moved its adoption, said motion being seconded by Councilman
Shaeffer and by vote CARRIED.
NEW BUSINESS
Councilman Hussey ask what project was next now that the Hall was
practically completed. He stated,that he would like to see the Dock
finished as it had been hanging fire for a long time, whereupon
Councilman Shaeffer stated he felt the Streets should come next.
After discussion a motion was made by Councilman Hussey to have
Mr. Swope come down and make a sketch of the proposed dock, same to
be presented in person to the Engineers at Jacksonville, seconded by
Councilman Haughton and by vote CARRIED.
The Council was presented with figures on a New Fire Siren and a
motion was made by Councilman Hussey we take $600.00 out of the
Emergency Fund for the purchase and installation of same and ask
that a committee be appointed by the Mayor, seconded by Councilman
Shaeffer and by vote CARRIED. Mayor Gibbs appointed Councilman
Haughton, Fire Chief Garlick and Mr. Patche to work together on this
and report back to the Council.
Councilman Hussey brought up the subject of lot cleaning and Mr.
Stimpson handed in the'name and address of a party in Kentucky whose
lot needs cleaning and the Clerk was instructed to write letters
asking property owners whose lots were not cleaned to do so or the
City would take steps to have same done and they would be billed.
Mr. Southard gave a talk on Mosquito Control and ask the cooperation
of the Council and all Citizens to help by keeping all rubbish cleaned
up to stop breeding places. Mr. Braddock also sopke on what the
Mosquito Control Board were doing to combat this situation.
There being no further business Councilman Hussey moved we do not
adjourn, seconded by Councilman Haughton and by vote CARRIED.
