The Regular Meeting of the City Council of the City of Edgewater, Florida was called to order by Mayor John H. Gibbs at 7: 30 P. r.l. Invocation was delivered by Dr. Fred Clifford. REPORT OF OFFICERS Clerk read her Budget Report and Cash Statement for the period December 1st to December 31st, 1952. Also read the Library Report for January thro' December 1952. C01vlNUNICA TIONS The Clerk read two letters, one from the Florida ?O\';er and Light Co. regardingthe light by the Lofton property and the other from the State Road Department regarding the Speed sign on the Highway South of Turgot Avenue. n " v r,..; u v . ORDINANCE AN ORDINANCE AUTHORIZING THE EXPENDITURE OF CERTAIN FUNDS NOW ON DEPOSIT IN THE DEPOSITORY FOR THE REMODELING OF THE CITY HALL AND OTHER CIVIC I~~nOVEMENTS IN EDGEWATER, VOLUSIA COUNTY, FLORIDA. The above ordinance was read in full and passed by the vote of the City Council of the City of Edgewater, Florida at a regular meeting on the 14th day of January, A.D. 1953. Upon motion duly made by Councilman Fuller and seconded by Council- man Shaeffer and unanimously carried the requirement of reading said ordinance upon second reading was waived and the ordinance was ordered put upon final passage. Passed by the vote of the City Council of the City of Edgewater, Florida, at a regular meeting of said Council held on the 14th day of January, A.D. 1953 and approved as provided by Law, the vote of said Council on roll call being as follows:- Councilman Fuller Yes " Shaeffer " " Hussey " " Haughton " r.1ayor " Gibbs " ORDINANCE AN ORDINANCE APPOINTING A DEPUTY CLERK FOn THE CITY OF EDGEWATER, FLORIDA. Attorney Chisholm Read the above Ordinance and before any action could be taken Councilman Fuller stated that the Charter stated that no one person could hold two City jobs. At thie point Mrs. Driskel handed in her resignation as Librarian. MOtion by Councilman Shaeffer the Council accept with regrets the resignatio~ of Mrs. Ruth Drisket as City Librarian, Seconded by Councilman Hussey and by vote CARRIED. The above ordinance was then passed by the vote of the City 60uncil of the City of Edgewater, Florida, at a regular meeting on the 14th day of January, A.D. 1953. Passed by the vote of the City Council of the City of Edgewater, Florida, at a regular meeting of said Council held on the 14th day of January, A.D. 1953 and approved as provided by Law, the vote of said Council on roll call being as follows:- Councilman tl " If If Fuller Shaeffer Hussey Haughton Gibbs No Yes " If If Mayor RESOLUTION A RESOLUTION DECLARING THE INTENTION OF THE CITY OF EDGEWATER, VOLUSIA COUNTY, FLORIDA TO VACATE FLAGLER AVENUE SOUTH OF THE SOmTH LINE OF THE GERONIMO ALVAREZ GRANT AND OCEAN AVENUE WEST OF THE RIGHT OF WAY OF THE FLORIDA EA3T COAST RAILROAD, AND PROVIDING FOR THE SERVICE OF NOTICE UPON ABUTTING PROPERTY OWNERS AND THE TIME AND PLACE AT WHICH OBJECTIONS CAN BE HEARD BEFORE THE CITY COUNCIL. .. " v v u o ~he above and foregoing Resolution was presented by Councilman Fu~ler, who moved its adoption, said motion being seconded by Councilman Shaeffer and upon roll call vote the said Resolution was duly declared adopted at the Reeular Meeting of said Council held the 14th day of January, A.D. 1953, the vote of said Council on roll call being as follows:- Councilman Fuller Yes Tt Shaeffer Tt " Haughton Tt " Hussey " fi.1ayor " Gibbs " Mayor Gibbs stated that the Police Officers were in need of new uniforms and after discussion a Motion was made by Councilman Shaeffer we purchase new uniforms for the Police Officers, six shirts and two pair of trousers ea~h and also a Cap for Officer Leslie, seconded by Councilman Hussey and by vote CARRIED. Councilman Hussey stated he had contacted Mr. DePue about clean- ine up his vacant lots and he had been promised action would be taken within two weeks. Motion by Councilman Fuller the Fire Chief be instructed to investigate these lots and. make a repor~ to the Council at the next meeting regarding the condition of the lots, to determine whether they were fire hazards. Seconded by Councilman Haughton. There being no further business Councilman Fuller moved we do do now adjourn, seconded by Councilman Haughton and by vote CARRIED. Time 8:40 P.M.
