10-14-1953 - Special \, ,___ ~n V (.; y SPECIAL MEETING OF THE CrTY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF EDGEWATER, FLORIDA, HELD OCTOBER 14th, 1953. A Special Meeting of the City of Edgewater Council was called to order by Mayor-Councilman John H. Gibbs at 8:15 P.M. ROLL CALL Mayor-Councilman John H. Gibbs Councilman E. P. Fuller Councilman C. C. Shaeffer Councilman H. L. Haughton Councilman A. Hussey City Clerk Frank F. Dippery City Attorney John Chisholm Present Present Present Present Present Present Present The purpose of the meeting was to receive Petitions of Candidates for the Office of MaYDrand City Councilmen to be elected at a Regular Election to be held November 3rd, 1953. The Clerk reported that the petitions had been filed to have the names of John H. Gibbs and George E. Lear, as Mayor at Large and the names of Frank M. Smith and Percy N. Loveland, District #1; Crawford C. Shaeffer and Miles W. Dippery, District #2; A. Hussey and George O. Sedgwick, District #3; R. Lee Freeman District #4 as Councilmen in their respective districts. Upon examination of the Petitions by the City Attorney and City Clerk same were found to be signed by Twenty-five qualified electors and to be in proper Legal form. Councilman Fuller moved these petitions be accepted and that the names of John H. Gibbs and George E. Lear, as Mayor and the names of Frank M. Smith and Percy N. Loveland, District #1; Crawford C. Shaeffer and Miles W. Dippery, District #2; A. Hussey and George O. Sedgwick, District #3; R. Lee Freeman, District #4; as Council- men in their respective districts be placed on the Official Ballot. Seconded by Councilman Hussey and by vote CARRIED. RESOLUTIONS A RESOLUTION DECLARING THE NO~INEES FOR THE OFFICE OF MAYOR AND CITY COUNCILMEN OF THE CITY OF EDGEWATER, VOLUSIA COUNTY, FLORIDA TO BE ELECTED AT THE REGULAR CITY ELECTION TO BE HELD NOVEMBER 3, 1953 AND PROVIDING FOR THE PREPARATION AND PRINTING OF BALLOTS FOR SAID ELECTION. The above and foregoing Resolution was read in full by Attorney Chisholm and motion made by Councilman Shaeffer this resolution be adopted, seconded by Councilman Fuller and by vote CARRIED. Roll call vote being as follows:- Councilman Fuller Yes " Shaeffer " " Haughton " " Hussey " M11yor- " Gibbs " A RESOLUTION APPOINTING A CLERK FOR THE REGULAR ELECTION TO BE HELD IN THE CITY OF EDGEWATER, VOLUSIA COUNTY, FLORIDA, ON NOVEMBER 3, 1953. The above and foregoing Resolution was read in full by Attorney Chisholm and motion made by Councilman Haughton this resolution be adopted, seconded by Councilman Hussey and by vote CARRIED.
