10-12-1953 - Regular "- u v v MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF EDGEWATER HELD OCTOBER 12th, 1953. The Regular Meeting of the City Council of the City of Edgewater, Florida was called to order by Mayor John H. Gibbs at 7130 P.M. ROLL CALL ""'I Mayor-Councilman John H. Gibbs Councilman E. P. Motion by Councilman Shaeffer these minutes stand approved as read, seconded by Councilman Fuller and by vote CARRIED. The minutes of a Special Meeting held September 30th, 1953 were read. Motion by Councilman Fuller these minutes stand approved as read, seconded by Councilman Hussey and by vote CARRIED. At this point Mayor Gibbs announced the Registeration Books would be open until 7:00 o'clock the 14th and 15th of October. Robertson, Ins. $5.00 7.S0 15.00 6.00 .65 50.21 37.00 OFFICERS REPORT The Clerk read the Budget report and the Clerk's Cash Statement for the Month of September. COMMUNICATIONS A letter from John C. Ferris, City Manager of New Smyrna Beach was read regarding Street Lights. An order has been placed for these lights and they will be erected as soon as they are received. A letter was also read from Fred Garlick, Fire Chief recommending the Council purchase 500 Ft. of Ii" White Hose and also 100 Ft. of 3/4" Booster Hose. Also two Fog Nozzles Motion was made by Councilman Haughton to purchase this hose and nozzles, seconded by Councilman Shaeffer and by vote CARRIED. Roll call vote being as follows:- Councilman Fuller Councilman Shaeffer Councilman Haughton Councilman Hussey Mayor-Councilman Gibbs Yes " " " " " ~ ~ v v RESOLUTIONS A RESOLUTION APPOINTING AN ELECTION CLERK, INSPECTORS AND A SPECIAL OFFICER FOR THE REGULAR ELECTION TO BE HELD NOVEMBER 3, 1953. A Resolution appointing Mrs. George Lear, Clerk Richard Hanson, Mrs. Francies Betzer, Mrs. Annie Roberts and Mrs. Annie Wipperman Inspectors, and B. T. Garrett as special officer was read in full by Attorney Chisholm and Councilman Fuller moved its adoption seconded by Councilman Hussey and by vote CARRIED. Roll call vote being as follows:- Councilman Fuller Yes Councilman Shaeffer Yes Councilman Haughton Yes Councilman Hussey Yes Mayor-Councilman Gibbs Yes ORDINANCES ORDINANCE #45 AMENDING SECTION 6-B OF ORDINANCE NO. 8 OF THE CITY OF EDGEWATER, VOLUSIA COUNTY, FLORIDA. The above Ordinance was read in full and the names of those wishing 1,200 Sq. Ft. floor space presented. There were non who wanted 900 Sq. Ft. floor space. Motion by Councilman Shaeffer this ordinance be adopted. There was no second. It was then suggested the Ordinance be re-written and incorporate the square foot required and one story into this ordinance, same to be presented at the next meeting. NEW BUSINESS This being the last Regular meeting before the Regular Election, Mayor Gibbs extended his thanks to all the Councilmen for the co- operation they h~d given him during the past year. It was announced there would be a Special Meeting Wednesday Evening . October 14th, at 7:30 P.M. to go over the Petitions for Candidates and set up the ballot.
