MEETING OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF EDGEWATER, FLORIDA HELD
MARCH 17th, 1954.
Continuation of the Regular Meeting of the City Council of
the City of Edgewater, Florida held March 8th, was.called to
order by Mayor George E. Lear, March 17th at 7:30 P.M.

A letter from Lucy M. Hungerford, resigning as Librarian of
the Hawks Park Library was read.
Motion by Councilman Loveland the resignation of Lucy M.
Hungerford as Librarian be accepted. Seconded by Councilman
Shaeffer, roll call vote being as follows:-

Mayor Lear "
Two applications for the position of Librarian were submitted.
One from Iva C. Allen and the other from Vera McLane.
A letter from the members of the Library Board recommending
Mrs. Vera McLane be appointed was read.
Motion by Councilman Freeman the recommendation of the Library
Board be accepted and the appointment of Vera McLane as
Librarian. Seconded by Councilman Shaeffer and roll call vote
taken as follows:-

Motion by Councilman Freeman ratifying the payment of $20.00
to the Red Cross as previously made by the Treasurer. Seconded
by Councilman Loveland, and by vote CARRIED.
A discussion came up on a License being issued to Gus Portnoy.
Councilman Shaeffer made a motion to revoke this license, seconded
by Councilman Hussey. After further discussion. on the subject
Councilman Shaeffer withdrew his motion. Also the second.
A discussion on the laying of the Corner Stone on the Community
Center followed and it was decided to engage a loud speaker for
the occasion, this being left to Councilman Freeman to take care
of. All Councilman were ask by the Mayor to be on hand Saturday
morning to get ready for the occasion.
There being no further business, Councilman Shaeffer moved we do
now adjourn, seconded by Councilman Freeman and by vote CARRIED.
