The Regular Meeting of the City Council of the City of Edgewater, Florida was called to order by Mayor George E. Lear at 7:30 P.M. ROLL CALL "!~ . Mayor George E. Lear Present Councilman Crawford C. Chisholm " Police Officer Frank Norman " Street Supervisor John Wood " The minutes of two previous meetings were read and a motion made by Councilman Freeman these minutes stand approved as read, seconded by Councilman Loveland and by vote CARRIED. OFFICERS REPORT The Clerk read the Budget report and the Clerk's Cash statement for the month of March. COMMUNICATIONS A letter from the Edgewater Fire Department asking for a contri- bution from the City to help defray the 4th of July Celebration was read. Motion was made by Councilman Shaeffer the City donate $125.00 to the Edgewater Volunteer Fire Department to help defray expenses of the 4th of July Celebration, seconded by Councilman Loveland and by vote CARRIED. Roll call vote being as follows:- Councilman Shaeffer Yes Councilman Hussey Yes Councilman Freeman Yes Councilman Loveland Yes Mayor Lear Yes j. v ~ u o ORDINANCES ORDINANCE #63 APPOINTING A LIBRARIAN FOR THE CITY OF EDGEWATER, FLORIDA AND SETTING THE COMPENSATION FOR SUCH SERVICES. The above ordinance was read in full and motion made by Council- man Freeman for its adoption, seconded by Councilman Loveland and passed by the vote of the City Council of the City of Edge- water, Florida at a regular meeting held on the 12th day of April, A.D. 1954. Upon motion duly made by Councilman Shaeffer, seconded by Council- man Loveland and carried the requirement of reading said ordinance upon second reading was waived, and the ordinance was ordered put upon final passage. Passed by the vote of the City Council of the City of Edgewater, Florida at a regular meeting of said Council held on the 12th day of April, A.D. 1954, and approved by Law, the vote of said Council being as follows:- Councilman Shaeffer Yes Councilman Hussey Yes Councilman Freeman Yes Councilman Loveland Yes Mayor Lear Yes RESOLUTION A RESOLUTION DECLARING THE INTENTION OF THE CITY OF EDGEWATER, VOLUSIA COUNTY, FLORIDA TO NARROW HUBBELL STREET AND PROVIDING FOR THE SERVICE OF NOTICE UPON ABUTTING PROPERTY OWNERS AND THE TIME AND PLACE AT WHICH OBJECTIONS CAN BE HEARD BEFORE THE CITY COUNCIL. The above and foregoing resolution was read and motion made by Councilman Shaeffer for its adoption, said motion being seconded by Councilman Freeman, and upon roll call vote the said resolution was declared adopted at the regular meeting of said Council held the 12th day of April, A.D. 1954, the vote of said Council on Roll call being as follows:- Councilman Shaeffer Yes Councilman Hussey Yes Councilman Freeman Yes Councilman Loveland Yes Mayor Lear Yes ORDINANCE ORDINANCE #64 AUTHORIZING THE EXPENDITURE AND TRANSFER OF CERTAIN SUMS NOW ON DEPOSIT IN THE DEPOSITORY OF THE CITY OF EDGEWATER FCORIDA FOR THE CONSTRUCTION AND ERECTION OF A COMMUNITY CENTER IN THE CITY OF EDGEWATER, VOLUSIA COUNTY, FLORIDA. The above ordinance was read in full and motion made by Councilman Freeman to table this Ordinance, seconded by Councilman Shaeffer and roll call vote taken as follows:- Councilman Shaeffer Yes Councilman Hussey Yes Councilman Freeman Yes Councilman Loveland Yes Mayor Lear Yes ~ ~ v o A discussion followed and Councilman Freeman presented a letter a copy of which is attached and made part of these minutes. The letter contained a motion that this Council immediately pass an Ordinance setting up the machinery for the holding of a Freeholder's Election on the issuing of City five year Bonds and further, that this Council immediately ascertain the amount necessary to complete this building in a satisfactory manner and to furnish and equip it in a satisfactory manner. That the City five year Bond Freeholders election then specify that the bonds shall be issued in an amount sufficient to cover the estimate . amount necessary to complete the building and an amount great enough to repay to the funds, the appropriated funds the monies we have withdrawn therefrom in order to pay the material, men and the laborers for their work and materials furnished as of and through the 10th day of April, 1954. This motion was seconded by Councilman Loveland and roll call vote taken as follows:- Councilman Shaeffer Councilman Hussey Councilman Freeman Councilman Loveland Mayor Lear Yes Yes Yes Yes/ Yes A lengthy discussion followed by the Council and also Citizens of the Community. RESOLUTION A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE BORROWING OF CERTAIN FUNDS FROM THE GENERAL FUND OF THE CITY OF EDGEWATER, VOLUSIA COUNTY, FLORIDA. 1'--.- The above and foregoing resolution was read in full and motion made by Councilman Freeman to adopt this resolution, said motion being seconded by Councilman Shaef~er and upon Roll Call vote the said Resolution was duly declared adopted at the Regular Meeting of said Council held the 12th day of April, A.D. 1954. The vote of said Council on roll call being as follows:- Councilman Shaeffer' Yes Councilman Hussey Yes Councilman Freeman Yes Counci~man Loveland Yes Mayor Lear Yes Councilman Shaeffer submitted prices on Tractor Tires and it was suggested that these tires be re-capped if possible and to get prices on re-capping.
