REGULAR MEETING OF THE CITY COUNCIL
OF THE CITY OF EDGEWATER, FLORIDA,
HELD MAY 10th, 1954.
The Regular Meeting of the City Council of the City of Edgewater,
Florida was called to order by Acting Mayor Crawford C. Shaeffer
May 10th, at 7:30 P.M.

The minutes of a Regular meeting and a Special meeting were read
and motion made by Councilman Loveland these minutes stand approved
as read, seconded by Councilman Hussey and by vote CARRIED.

Motion by Councilman Loveland these bills be paid and be made a
part of the minutes, seconded by Councilman Hussey and by vote
CARRIED.
OFFICERS REPORT
The Clerk read the Budget report and the Clerk's Cash statement for
the month of lipril..
COMMUNICATIONS.
A letter from the Edgewater Fire Department was read thanking the
City for its donation of $125.00 to help defray the expenses of the
4th of July celebration.
A letter was read from Charley F. Skipper and Bertie M. Skipper
asking for the re-zoning of their property on Old County Road to
enable them to have a Machine Shop on their property. Also a
letter from all property owners signed by them stating they have
no objections to a Machine Shop on this property.

A reco~endation was made by the zoning board to rezone that part
of Zone 2 West of Old County Road to the Railroad from Park Ave.
to the North Boundry of Zone 2, to Business and Commercial.
Councilman Hussey stated in view of the fact the Zoning Board
· k recommended this change he would make a motion to have an Ordinance
drawn up to rezone that portion of Zone 2 as recommended. Seconded
by Councilman Loveland and by vote CARRIED.
RESOLUTIONS
A RESOLUTION DECLARING THE INTENTION OF THE CITY OF EDGEWATER,
VOLUSIA COUNTY, FLORIDA TO VACATE THAT PART OF FLAGLER AVENUE
SOUTH OF A LINE CONNECTING THE SOUTHERLY BOUNDRIES OF LOTS 13
AND 30, EDGEWATER ACRES, BEING A SUBDIVISION IN THE CITY OF
EDGEWATER, FLORIDA, AS PER MAP IN MAP BOOK 11, PAGE 299, PUBLIC
RECORDS OF VOLUSIA COUNTY, FLORIDA, AND PROVIDING FOR THE SERVICE
OF NOTICE UPON ABUTTING PROPERTY O~~ERS AND THE TIME AND PLACE AT
WHICH OBJECTIONS CAN BE HEARD BEFORE THE CITY COUNCIL.
The above and foregoing Reso111tion was read in full and motion
made by Councilman Loveland for its adoption, said motion being
seconded by Councilman Hussey and upon roll call vote the said
resolution was duly declared adopted at the Regular meeting of
said Council held the 10th day of May, A.D. 1954, the vote of
said Council on roll call being as follows:-

ORDINANCES
ORDINANCE #65 NARROWING HUBBELL STREET IN THE CITY OF EDGEWATER,
VOLUSIA COUNTY, FLORIDA, AND PROVIDING FOR THE REVISION OF THE
ABANDONED PORTIONS OF SAID HUBBELL STREET TO THE ABUTTING PROPER-
TY OWNERS.
The above Ordinance was read in full and their being no objections
by the abutting property owners a motion was made by Councilman
Loveland for its adoption, seconded by Councilman Hussey and passed
by the vote of the City Council of the City of Edgewater, Florida
at a regular meeting held on the 10th day of May, A.D. 1954. Upon
motion duly made by Councilman Hussey, and seconded by Councilman
Loveland and carried the requirement of reading said ordinance upon
second reading was waived, and the ordinance was ordered put upon
final passage.
Passed by the vote of the City Council of the City of Edgewater,
Florida at a regular meeting of said Council held on the 10th day
of May, A.D. 1954, and approved by Law, the vote of said Council
on roll call being as follows:-

ORDINANCE #66 AUTHORIZING THE ISSUANCE OF BONDS BY THE CITY OF
EDGEWATER, FLORIDA SETTING FORTH THE AMOUNT OF SUCH BONDS AND THE
PURPOSE FOR WHICH THE MONEY DERIVED FROM THE SALE OF SUCH BONDS
WILL BE USED AND PROVIDING FOR THE NECESSARY ELECTION BY THE
FREEHOLDERS OF THE CITY OF EDGEWATER, FLORIDA.
The above Ordinance was read in full and Councilman Loveland
stated he did not think the people would vote for a bond issue
and it would be to expensive for the amount of money needed, so
therefore made a motion to table this Ordinance untill a full
Council was in session. This motion was seconded by Councilman
Hussey and by vote CARRIED.

NEW BUSINESS
Councilman Loveland ask if the Dog Ordinance was being enforced
and stated a notice should be inserted in the New Smyrna News
and the News Journal stating that all dogs caught running loose
without a license in the City of Edgewater after Monday May 17th
would be picked up and imponded.
Councilman Loveland ask for a report on the Community Center.
The Clerk reported there was bill outstanding of approximately
$526.00 and Mr. Wipperman pointed out there was Electrical
and Plumbing supplies on hand and paid for of approximately
$1,100 which could be-returned if necessary, but with the sale
of tickets on a Television and another Auction money would be
raised to pay this outstanding debt.
There being no further business, Councilman Hussey moved we do
now adjourn, seconded by Councilman Loveland and by vote CARRIED.
