SPECIAL MEETING OF THE CITY COUNCIL
OF THE CITY OF EDGEWATER, VOLUSIA COUNTY,
FLORIDA HELD MARCH 22nd, 1955.
A Special Meetinf of the City Council and Planning Board of
the City of Edgewater, Florida held March 22nd, 1955 was called to
order by Mayor George E. Lear at 7:45 P.M.

Mayor Lear stated the purpose of this meeting was to straighten
out certain complications that had arose regarding the collections
of $10.00 deposits on water meters. He stated some had been taking
$10.00 deposits and some had been taking applications without
deposits. This has to be straighten out and decide if they were
going to hold to $10.00 deposits.
Councilman Shaeffer ask how you could [0 contrary to the rules

and not take the ~lO.OO deposit.
Councilman Loveland stated both he and Mr. Peyton had already
signed applications from residents from Hamilton Drive to River-
view Drive east of the Highway with the exception of Dixwood and
Rio Vista Drive and Mr. Lembeck was to cover Knaep Ave. He stated.
that most refused to sign up and deposit $10.00 for that length of
time so they had accepted signatures without deposits.
Councilman Ranken stated he thought a meter deposit essential for
the financing of water.
Mr. Gibbs stated that he was not notified of all of the Plannine
Board meetings and a motion was marle ~y Councilman Shaeffer that
the President of the Plannine Board have the Secretary of the Board
notify all members of the Planning Board by letter of all meetings
on water. No Second. Kotion withdrawn.
Mayor LeHr ask Councilman Ranken to ~ontact the City Attorney
and ascertain if $1.00 would be sufficient to accompany any signed
agreement and the balance to be paid when the lines were ready.
Motion by Councilman Ranken that a deposit for meter and connections
be a minimum of ~1.00 or more to be made at the time of signing of
agreement and balance to be paid at time of connection. Seconded by
Councilman Shaeffer and by vote CARRIED.
There being no further business Councilman Loveland moved the
meeting be adjourned, seconded by Councilman Shaeffer and by vote
CARRIED.
