SPECIAL MEETING OF THE CITY COUNCIL
OF THE CITY OF EDGEWATER, FLORIDA,
HELD MAY 2nd, 1955.
A Special Meeting of the City Council of the City of Edgewater,
Florida was called to order by Mayor George E. Lear at 7:30 P.M.
May 2nd, 1955.

The meeting was called for the purpose of discussing~rious
things.
As the School Boy Potrol leave this week for Washington, D.C.
a report was made on monies collected. It was reported that
$92.00 had been collected and ~225.00 needed to ~end three boys
to Washington. Motion made by Councilman Shaeffer the City
Council make up the difference providine the parents of two of
the boys donate tlO.OO each toward this fund making the difference
the City pay of ~113.00. Seconded by Councilman Hussey and by
vote CARRIED.
Motion by Councilman Shaeffer we turn over to the Community Center
the old Gas Tank belonging to the City to be u~ed to square off
a debt. Seconded by Councilman Ranken and by vote CARRIED.
Discussion on a Tower for Fire Siren and Bids submitted by
Bushnell Steel Co. of/acksonville of $490.00 and Charlie Skipper
of Edgewater $467.00. Motion by Councilman Hussey that the bid
of Charlie Skipper be accepted and Fred Garlick as Fire Chief be
given permission to go ahead and order this Tower. Seconded by
Councilman Ranken and by vote CARRIED. Roll call vote being as
follows:-

A letter was read from Delpho Hackney, Post Office Inspector re-
garding the changing of the present Post Office to the Old Fire
Station. Councilman Loveland moved that Kr. Shaeffer be authorized
to contact Mr. Hackney by letter and ask for an appointment with
him to see what could be worked out favorable to the City. Seconded
by Councilman Hussey and by vote CARRIED.
There being no further business Councilman Hussey moved the meeting
be adjourned, seconded by Councilman Shaeffer and by vote CARRIED.
