A Regular Meeting of the City Council of the City of Edgewater, Florida held July 11th, 1955 was called to order by Mayor George E. Lear at 7:30 P.M. ROLL CALL Mayor George E. Lear Councilman C. C. The above Ordinance was read in full and motion ma08 by Council- man '1anken, seconded by Councilman Shaeffer this ordinance ~e adopted And passed by the vote of the City Council of the City of Edgewater, Florid~, ~t a regular meetine held on the 11th day of July, A.D. 19s5. Upon motion duly made by Councilman Shaeffer and seconded by C0uncilman Hussey and carried the requirement of reading said Ordinance upon second reading was waived and the Ordinance was ordered put upon final passage. Passed by the vote of the City Council of the City of Edgewater, Florida, at a regular meeting of said Council held on the 11th day of July, A.D. 1955 and approved as provided hy law, the vote of said Council on roll call beine as follows:- Councilman Shaeffer Councilman Hussey Councilman Ranken Councilman Loveland v.iayor Lear Yes Yes Yes Yes Yes A letter was then read from Volusia County, stating the year 19~5 was ~2,249,729.00 Exempt ~921.429.00 ~furren Jackson, Tax Assessor for total assessed Valuation for the Exempt $1,328,300.00 and Non- I10tion was then made by Councilman Loveland the milleage be set at 10 Mills. Seconded by Councilman Ranken. I~ayor Lear stated he did not think it advisable to cut the milleage at this time if the people were sincere in wanting water ang other improvements, as our non-exempt valuation was down by ~8,770 from last year and therefore we would not re- ceive as much taxes as in the previous year. He called on a number of citizens from the floor who expressed their opinions before calling for a roll call vote. Roll Call vote was then called for re~ulting as follows:- Councilman Shaeffer Councilman Hussey Councilman Ranken Councilman Loveland Iv1ayor Lear No No Yes Yes No Kotion was then made by Councilman Shaeffer the Millea~e be set at 12 Mills the same as the previous year. Seconded by Councilman Hussey and Roll Call vote taken as follows:- Councilman Shaeffer Councilman Hussey Councilman Ranken Councilman Loveland Mayor Lear Yes Yes Pass Pass Yes " c u u II J ORDINANCE #83 PROVIDING FOR THE RATE OF TAXATION FOR ALL PROP ERTY IN THE CITY OF EDGE\i/A TEi{, VOLUSIA COUNTY, FLORIDA, FOR THE YEAR, A.D. 1955, AUTHORIZING THE NOTIFICATION OF THE YILLEAGE TO THE TAX ASSESSOR OF VOLUSIA COUNTY, FLORIDA. The above Ordinance was read in full and motion made by Councilman Shaeffer this ordinance be adopted, seconded by Councilman Hussey and passed by the vote of the City Council of the City of Edgewater, at a regular meeting held on the 11th day of July, 1955. Upon motion duly made by Councilman Shaeffer seconded by Council- man Hussey and carried the requirement of reading said Ordinance upon second reading was waived, and the Ordinance was ordered put upon final passage.
