10-19-1955 - Special ~ v ~ u J SPECIAL MEETING OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF EDGEWATER, VOLUSIA COUNTY, FLORIDA, HELD OCTOBER 19th, 1955. A Special Meeting of the City Council of the City of Edgewater held October 19th, 1955 was called to order by Acting Mayor A. Hussey at 7:30 P.M. A Acting M,yor Hussey Present Councilman P.N. Loveland Present Councilman H. B. Ranken Present City Clerk Frank F. Dippery " The purpose of the meeting was to receive Petitions of Candidates for the Office of Mayor and City Councilmen to be elected at a Regular Election to be held November 8th, 1955. ROLL CALL The Clerk reported petitions had been filed to have the names of A. Hussey, Joseph Wipperman and George O. Sedgwick as Mayor at Large and the names of David Washburn and Floyd Stimson, District #1, Raymond T. Friedley and Ruth D. Driskel, District #2, Herman John and John B. O'Connell, District #3 and Howard B. Ranken, Bernard Farrell and Richard Hanson, District #4, as Councilmen in their respective districts. Upon examination of the Petitions by the Councilmen and City Clerk same were found to be signed by twenty-five qualified electors and to be in proper legal form. Councilman Ranken moved these petitions be accepted and the names of A. Hussey, Joseph Wipperman and George 0 Sedgwick as Mayor and the names of David L. Washburn and Floyd Stimson District ~l, Raymond T. Friedley and Ruth D. Driskel, District #2, Herman John and John B. O'Connell, District #3, and Howard B. Ranken, Bernard Farrell and Richard Hanson, District #4 as Councilmen in their respective districts be placed on the Official Ballot. Seconded by Councilman Loveland and by vote CARRIED. RESOLUTION A RESOLUTION DECLARING THE NOMINEES FOR THE OFFICE OF MAYOR AND CITY COUNCILMEN OF THE CITY OF SDGEWATER, VOLUSIA COUNTY, FLORIDA, TO BE ELECTED AT THE REGULAR CITY ELECTION TO BE HELD ON NOVEMBER erH, 195,5, AND THE ISSUE OF WHETHER OR NOT THE CITY OF EDGEWATER SHALL PROMOTE AND INSTALL A CITY WATER SYST~1 IN THE CITY OF EDGE- WATER, VOLUSIA COUNTY, FLORIDA, AND PROVIDING FOR THE PREPARATION AND ,PRINTING OF BALLOTS FOR SAID ELECTION. The above Resolution was read in full and motion made by eouncil- man Loveland this resolution be adopted, seconded by Councilman Ranken and by vote CARRIED. Roll call vote being as follows:- Councilman Loveland Yes Councilman Ranken Yes Acting Mayor Hussey Yes Motion by Councilman Loveland that Swickley's Restaurant be contacted to serve the meals for the Election Board on November 8th, seconded by Councilman Ranken and by vote CARRIED.
