11-09-1955 - Special (2) v l; u 1'1 o SPECIAL MEETING OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF EDGEWATER, VOLUSIA COUNTY, HELD NOVEMBER 9th, 1955. A Special Meeting of the City Council of the City of Edgewater, held November 9th, 1955 was called to order by Councilman C.C. Shaeffer at 7:30 P.M. ROLL CALL Acting Mayor A. Hussey Councilman C. C. Dippery City Attorney John Chisholm Street Supervisor John Wood Absent Present Present Present Present Present Present Minutes of the Regular Meeting held October 10th, 1955 and Special Meetings .held October 19th, November 7th and November 9th, 1955 were read. Motion by Councilman Ranken these minutes stand approved as read, seconded by Councilman Loveland and by vote CARRIED. BILLS & ACCOUNTS Edgewater Motors W. R. Ferreira Volusia Tractor & Imp. Co. OFFICERS REPORT The Clerk read the Clerk's 6ash Statement and the Budget Report for the Month of October 1955. COMMUNICATIONS The Clerk read letters of resignations of Robert Poland, George O. Sedgwick and Herman John. Motion by Councilman Loveland these letters of resignation be accepted, seconded by Councilman Ranken and by vote CARRIED. At this point the Old City Council adjourned by motion of Councilman Ranken, seconded by Councilman Loveland and CARRIED. The meeting was then turned over to the Clerk who ask the newly elected officers to come forward and present the Certificate of Election, whereupon the Clerk Administered the Oath of Office to the duly elected officers. .............- - - ~ .. ~ ~ o ( u u The newly elected Mayor and Councilman were then seated and the meeting proceeded. COMMUNICATIONS A letter from Joseph Wipperman, Sec'y, Treas of the Edgewater Volunteer Fire Department stating that Fred Garlick was re- elected Fire Chief for another year and his appointment being subject to your approvel. Motion was made by Councilman Friedley this appointment be tabled until the regular meeting of said Council, seconded by Councilman Farrell and by vote CARRIED. A motion was then made by Councilman Washburn that the present City employees be retained until the Regular Council Meeting. Seconded by Councilman Farrell. Motion by Councilman Friedley that George Sedgwick be retained as Building Inspector with no salary until such time as applications are submitted and an appointment made. Seconded by Councilman Washburn and by vote CARRIED. RemarRs were then made by all the retireing Councilman. There being no further business Councilman Washburn moved we do now adjourn, seconded by Councilman Friedley and by vote CARRIED. Time S:40 P.M. Mayor 7;~?.R.
