Regular Meeting of the City Council of the City of Edgewater, Florida, held April 9th, 1956 was called to order by Mayor George O. Sedgwick at 7:30 P.M. ROLL CALL Mayor George O. COMMUNICATIONS A letter of resignation was read from Elder C. G. Teague, re- signing from the Chairman of the Board of Governers of the Community Center. Motion by Councilman Farrell to accept the resignation of Elder C. G. Teague, seconded by Councilman John and by vote CARRIED. Two letters were read from T. R. Alcock & Co. regarding an agree- ment to be drawn up prior to a bond ordinance. v u o o ORDINANCES ORDINANCE #106 PROHIBITING DRIVING WHILE INTOXICATED IN TijE CITY OF EDGEWATER, FLORIDA. The above Ordinance was read in full and motion made by Councilman Friedley to adopt this Ordinance, seconded by Councilman Washburn and passed by the vote of the City Council of the City of Edgewater, Florida at a Regular Meeting held on the 9th day of April, lY56. Upon motion duly made by Councilman Washburn, seconded by Councilman John and unanimously carried the requirement of reading said Ordinance upon second reading was waived and the Ordinance was ordered put upon final passage. The above Ordinance was read in full and motion made by Councilman Washburn to adopt this Ordinance, seconded by Councilman Farrell and passed by the vote of the City Council of the City of Edgewater, Florida at a Regular Meeting held on the 9th day of April, A.D. 1956. The above Ordinance was read in full and motion made by Councilman Farrell to adopt this Ordinance, seconded by Councilman Friedley and passed by the vote of the City Council of the City of Edgewater, Florida at a Regular Meeting held on the 9th day of April, A.D. 1956. The above Ordinance was read in full and motion made by Councilman Farrell to adopt thie Ordinance, seconded by Councilman John and passed by the vote of the City Council of the City of Edgewater, Florida) at a regular Meeting held on the 9th day of April, A.D. 195b. Upon motion duly made by Councilman Friedley and seconded b Councilman Washburn and unanimously carried the requirement of reading said Ordinance upon second reading was waived, and the Ordinance was ordered put upon final passage. Passed by the vote of the City Council of the City of Edgewater, Florida, at a regular meeting of said Council held on the 9th day of April, A.D. 1956 and approved as provided by law, the vote of said Council on roll call being as follows:- Councilman Washburn Yes Councilman Friedley Yes Councilman John Yes Councilman Farrell Yes Mayor Sedgwick Yes Discussion followed on closing the office on Wednesday Afternoons during the summer months. Motion made by Councilman Friedley the office be closed Wednesday Afte~noon during the summer months beginning April 18th. Seconded by ~ouncilman Washburn and by vote CARRIED. Motion by Councilman Farrell Kathrine O'Connell be appointed Deputy Clerk and an Ordinance be prepared for the next Regular Meeting, seconded by Councilman Washburn and by vote CARRIED. Mayor Sedgwick stated he thought it appropriate that letters be written to Mr. & Mrs. Lohman, Mr. & Mrs. Seng, Miss Ruth Blake and Mrs. Ryta Webber thanking them for donating land to extend Evergreen Street through to the Highway. The Clerk was instructed to write these letters. The request of Robert Fuller pertaining to certain lane being widened and shelled by the City of Edgewater, was discussed by the Council and the decision of the City Council was that the City could not provide shell or labor to such lane or road and advised Mr. Fuller he would be required to widen and shell , the aforesaid road as required by the City Charter and Ordinance. The Mayor ask for Fernald Street to be opened up and shelled. Motion was made by Councilman Friedley the Mayor be authorized to open up Fernald Street and have same surveyed and right of way procured from New Hampshire Ave. to Turgot Ave. Seconded by Councilman Washburn and by vote CARRIED.
