SPECIAL MEETING OF THE CITY COUNCIL
OF THE CITY OF EDGEWATER, FLORIDA,
HELD MAY 7th, 1956.
A Special Meeting of the City Council of the City of Edgewater,
Florida, held May 7th, 1956 was called to order by Mayor George
O. Sedgwick at 1:30 P.M.

The purpose of the meeting was to dispense with any buriness that
might arise.
Discussion on the Games Party for Election Day. Motion by Council-
man Washburn the Games Party be called off for Election day, second-
ed by Councilman Farrell and by vote CARRIED. Roll call vote heing
as follows:-
Councilman Washburn Yes
Councilman Friedley Yes
Councilman John Yes
Councilman Farrell Yes
Mayor Sedgwick Yes
A letter of resignation of Vera McLane as Librarian was read. Motion
by Councilman Friedley this letter of resignation be accepted when
the vacancy is filled. Seconded by Councilman John and by vote
Carried. Applications for this position are now being accepted by
the City and notice placed in paper.
Letter and Deed received from the Trustees of the Internal Improvement
Fund for submerged land adjacent to City owned property. It was
suggested that a letter be written to them thanking them for this land.
Motion by Councilman Washburn that City Attorney Fred R. Brannon, Jr.
be directed to defend the Habaes Corpus Suit of William Nix against
Frank Norman as Police Chief. Seconded by Councilman Friedley, and
by vote CARRIED.
There being no further business Councilman Farrell moved we do now
adjourn, seconded by Councilman Friedley and by vote CARRIED.
