The Regular Meeting of the City Council of the City of Edgewater,
Florida was called to order May 14th, 1956 by Mayor George O.
Sedgwick at 7:30 P.M.

The Minutes of the Meetings held April 9th, April 16th, April 19th
April 30th and May 7th were read. Motion by Councilman Washburn
these minutes stand approved as read, seconded by Councilman
Friedley and by vote CARRIED.

The Clerk read the Clerk's Cash Statement and the Budget Report
for the Month of April, 1956.

COMMUNICATIONS
A letter was read from Mrs. Taylor stating she was unable to
P?Y $5.00 for garbnfe collection as she had very little to
live on since the passing of her husband. Councilman Nash-
burn said he would contact Mrs. Taylor and see what could be
worked out.
A communication from Mr. Walter B. Braddock, Assistant Director
of East Volusia County Anti-Mosquito District was read commenting
on the fine co-operation extended them in eliminating mosquito
and sandfly breeding areas inside the Corporate Limits.
Three Bids were received on a Truck for the Auxiliary Fire Tank
Bids were as follows:-

After a discussion a motion was made by Councilman Friedley to
purchase the 1949 International l~ Ton Truck from Don Taylor.
Seconded by Councilman John and by vote CARRIED. Roll call vote

Two applications were received for the position of City Librarian.
One from Mrs. George Driskel and one from Mrs. Ruth' K. Smith.
These applications were tabled for further consideration.
Letter was read from the Edgewater Fire Department asking the City
for a donation of $200.00 for Fireworks for the Fourth of July
Celebration. Motion by Councilman washburn we donate $200.00 to
the Fire Department for fireworks for the 4th of July Celebration,
seconded by Councilman Friedley and by vote CARRIED. Roll call
vote being as follows:-

A Communication was read from C. E. Mosher, Zoning Board Member
of Zone three recommending zoning along Riverside Drive in Zone
#3. This communication to be turned over to the loning Board to
review for an overall view for the City.

man Friedley this Ordinance be adopted, seconded by Councilman
Washburn and passed by the vote of the City Council of the City
of Edgewater, Florida at a Regular Meeting held on the 14th day
of May, A.D. 1956.
Upon motion duly made by Councilman Farrell, seconded by Council-
man John and unanimously carried the requirement of reading said
Ordinance upon second reading was waived and the Ordinance was
ordered put upon final passage.

NEW BUSINESS
Nat Brown ask that speed signs be placed on Flagler Ave. Motion
by Councilman Washburn the City purchase two 25 Mile Limit Speed
Signs and place on Flagler Ave. Seconded by Councilman Friedley
and by vote CARRIED.

A number of Citizens voiced objections to the ratifying of
Ordinance #112 previously passed on April 19th.
Richard Hanson objected to the City being in the Lot Cleaning
Business.
There being no further business Councilman Washburn moved we do
now adjourn, seconded by Councilman John and by vote CARRIED.
