REGULAR MEETING OF THE CITY COUNCIL
OF THE CITY OF EDGEWATER, FLORIDA,
HELD JUNE 11, 1956.
The Regular Meeting of the City Council of the City of Edgewater
Florida, held June 11th, 1956, was called to' order by Mayor
George O. Sedgwick at 7:30 P.M.

The Minutes of the Regular Meeting held June 4th, 1956 were read.
Motion by Councilman Friedley these minutes stand approved as
read, seconded by Councilman John and by vote CARRIED.

Motion by Councilman John these bills be paid and be made a part
of the minutes, seconded by Councilman Washburn and by vote
CARRIED.
OFFICERS REPORT
The Clerk read the Clerk's Cash Statement and the Budget Report
for the month of May, 1956.
COMMUNICATIONS
A letter was read from Mr. John C. Ferris, City Manager of the
City of New Smyrna Beach, asking if we again would like to parti-
cipate in the usual children's summer recreation program, also
asking if we would allocate a larger amount toward expenses.

Motion by Councilman Friedley that we give the usual amount of
$100.00, seconded by Councilman John and by vote CARRIED.
ORDINANCES
ORDINANCE NO. 119 AMENDING ORDINANCE NO. 101, ENTITLED "AN
ORDINANCE REGULATING THE REMOVAL OF TRASH IN THE CITY OF
EDGEWATER, FLORIDA, AND PROVIDING FOR THE PAYMENT OF A CHARGE
FOR THE REMOVAL THEREOF BY THE CITY OFEDGEWATER, FLORIDA, AND
PRESCRIBING PENALTIES FOR THE VIOLATION THEREOF", AND REGULATING
THE REMOVAL OF TRASH, INCLUDING GARBAGE, IN THE CITY OF
EDGEWATER, FLORIDA, AND PROVIDING FOR THE PAYMENT OF A CHARGE
FOR THE REMOVAL THEREOF BY THE CITY OF EDGEWATER, FLORIDA, AND
PRESCRIBING PENALTIES FOR THE VIOLATION THEREOF.
The above Ordinance was read in full and motion made by Council-
man Washburn this Ordinance be adopted, seconded by Councilman
John and passed by the vote of the City Council of the City of
Edgewater, Florida at a Regular Meeting held on the 11th day of
June, A.D. 1956.
Upon motion duly made by Councilman John, seconded by Council-
man Friedley and unanimously carried the requirement of reading
said Ordinance upon second reading was waived and the Ordinance
was ordered put upon final passage.
Passed by the vote of the City Council of the
Florida, at a Regular Meeting of said Council
day of June, 1956 and approved as provided by
said Council on roll call being as follows:-

ORDINANCE NO. 120 APPOINTING RUTH K. SMITH CITY LIBRARIAN FOR
THE CITY OF EDGEWATER, FLORIDA, AND SETTING THE COMPENSATION
FOR SUCH SERVICES.
The above Ordinance was read in full and motion made by Council-
man Friedley this Ordinance be adopted, seconded by Councilman
John and passed by the vote of the City Council of the City of
Edgewater, Florida at a regular Meeting held on the 11th day of
June, A.D. 1956.
Upon motion duly made by Councilman Washburn, seconded by
Councilman John and unanimously carried the requirement of read-
ing said Ordinance upon Second Reading was waived and the Ordin-
ance was ordered put upon final passage.

OLD BUSINESS
The Mayor reported that the Farmall Cub Tractor is at the New
Smyrna Beach Airport, having the equipment installed and will be
delivered in Edgewater at noon, June 12th.
NEW BUSINESS
Councilman John mentioned that the table in the Park needed to
be repaired. Mayor Sedgwick asked John Wood to take it to the
barn to be fixed.
Mr. Edmund E. Gates asked the Council to consider selling or
leasing to him an area in the rear ofi the City Hall, about 45
feet wide and 85 feet long. Mayor Sedgwick said that the Council
would look into the matter.
There being no further Council business, Mayor Sedgwick asked if
anyone in the audience had any matters to bring up.
Mrs. Menard mentioned that the City benches at the Ocean Avenue
Extension are placed all together. Mayor Sedgwick said that he
would have them distributed.
Mr. Bob Poland asked about the water situation. The Mayor said
that he expected something definite within the next week.
There being no further business Councilman Friedley moved we do
now adjourn, seconded by Councilman Washburn and by vote CARRIED.
