REGULAR lmETING OF THE UITY COUNCIL
CITY OF EDGEWATER, VOLUSIA COUNTY,
FLORIDA HELD OCTOBER 1st, 1956.

water, Floridn held October 1st, 1956 wns called to order by
Mayor George O. Sedgwick at 1:30 P.M.

'l'he minutes of the Regulnr Meeting held September 17th were
rend. Motion by Council~~n Farrell these minutes stand approved
as rend, seconded by Councilmn.n .Tohn nnd by vote CARRIED.
OFFICERS REPORT
Fire Chief Garlick ask the Council's permission to install the
old Fire Siren in the South end of the City, preferably at the
residence of ~~. Stubbs. Motion was made by Council~~n Friedley
the Fire Chief be instructed to install the old Fire Siren at
the Stubbs residence, seconded by Council~~n .Tohn and by vote
CARRIED.

Fire Chief Garlick [\wlso requested the purchase of 'fhree Coats
and Three Helmets. He stated they could have been used nicely
at the fire they were called to in New Smyrna. Motiorn by
Council~~n Washburn the Fire Chief be given permission to pur-
chase three Conts and three Helmets, seconded by Council~~n .Tohn
and by vote UARRIED.
CO MMUNI CATIONS
A letter was read from the residence residing on Riverside Drive
south of Boston Rond requesting a street light at the extreme
end of Riverside Drive. Mayor Sedgwick stated all requests
for lights were being filed and would be considered after the
new budget becomes effective as provisions h~ve been ~~de in
the budget for new lights to be installed where needed.
A letter was also rend from JL~rion Wilcken nsking the City Council
to take under consideration the nuisonce being allowed and m-:lin-
tained by the owner of property adjoining on the North of her place
of business. After henring this letter Mayor Sedgwick recessed
for one-half hour for three Councilmen to investigate and report
back.
Councilman Friedley reported back that Mr. Ford was very co-
operative and promised to move the car~ from its present plnce.

ORDINANCE #134 AMENDING ORDINANCE #133 ENTITL1ID "AN ORDI!-TANCE
PROVIDING FOR A SPECIAL ELECTION TO DETERMINE THE WISHES OF THE
VOTERS OF THE CITY OF EDGEWATER, FWRIDA, WITH REFERENCE TO THE
SALE OF ALCOHOLIC BEVERAGES ON SUNDAY. It
The above Ordinance was read in full by Attorney Brannon and
motion ronde by Counci1mn.n- Friedley for its adoption, seconded by
Counci~~ .Tohn and passed by the vote of the City Council of
the-City of Edgewater, Florida, at a regular meeting on the 1st
day of October, A. D. 1956.

Upon motion duly m~dc by Council~~n Washburn, seconded by Council-
lDt.1.n Farrell and unanimously carried, the requirement of reading
said Ordinance upon second rending was waived, nnd the Ordinance
was ordered put upon final passage.
Passed by the vote of the City Council of the City of Edgewater,
Florida at n regulnr meeting of said Council held on the 1st day
of October, A. D. 1956, nnd approved as provided by Law, the vote

RESOLUTIons
A RESOLUTION APPOINTING BOSS GARRETT A SPECIAL POLICEMAN FOR
THE CONDUCTING OF A SPECIAL ELECTION ON OCTOBER 2, 1956.
The above Resolution was read in full by Attorney Brannon and
. motion duly made by Counci1mnn Washburn for its adoption,
seconded by Councilman Friedley and by unanimous vote CARRIED.
A RESOLUTION STATING THE INTENTION OF THE CITY OF EDGEWATER,
FLORIDA, TO DEDICATE CERTAIN. DESCRIBED" LANDS FOR PUBLIC USE
IU THE ElENT THE SAME CAl~ BE OBTAINED BY THE CITY OF EDGEWATER.
The above Resolution wns read in full by Attorney Brannon and
motion duly made by Council~1.n Friedley for its adoption,
dedicating certain lands for park and recreational purposes,
seconded by Councilm1.l1 John and passed by unanimous vote.
A letter wns then rend from T. R. Alcock stating he expected
to be in this vicinity and ask that n meeting be arranged for
October 15th at 1:30 P.M.
There were four applications for Building Inspector received
and read. These were taken under advisement, appointment to
be ron.de later.
Mayor Sed~vick stated that there would be a Special Meeting
of the Council Friday October 5th at 1:30 P.M.
There being no further business COWlcilm1.n Friedley moved we
do now adjourn, seconded by'Councilm~n Farrell and by vote
