The Regular Meeting of the City Council of the City of Edgewater, Florida held October 8th, 1956 was called to order by Mayor George O. Sedgwick at 7:30 P.M. ROLL CALL Mayor George O. OFFICiRS REPORT The Clerk read the Clerk's Cash Statement a nd the Budget Report for the month of September, 1956. Also the Librarian's report for the month of September. I U u o \ V r COW~UNICATIONS A letter was read from Crescenzio DiPietro asking that Beer Ale and Wine be served and distributed only from 12:00 noon on Sunday until 12:00 midnight on Sunday. A letter was also read from Henry J. Burke asking for an express- ion from the Mayor and Councilman John regarding spraying and fogging for mosquitoe's. ORDINANCES ORDINANCE #135 PROHIBITING THE SALE OF ALCOHOLIC BEVERAGES ON SUNDAYS IN THE CITY OF EDGEWATER, VOLUSIA COUNTY, FLORIDA AND PROVIDING PENALTIES FOR THE VIOLATION THEREOF. The above Ordinance was read in full, motion made by Councilman Washburn this Ordinance be adopted, seconded by Councilman Friedley and passed by the vote of the City Council of the City of Edgewater Florida at a regular meeting on the 8th day of October, A.D. 1956. ' Roll call vote being as follows:- Councilman Washburn Yea Councilman Friedley Yea Councilman John Yea Councilman Farrell Yea Mayor Sedgwick Yea Upon motion duly made by Councilman Friedley, seconded by Councilman Washburn and unanimously carried, the requirement of reading said Ordinance upon second reading was waived and the Ordinance was order- ed put upon final passage. Passed by the vote of the City Council of the City of Edgewater, Elorida, at a regular meeting of said Council held on the 8th day of October, A. D. 1956 and approved as provided by Law, the vote of said Council on roll call being as follows:- Councilman Washburn Yea Councilman Friedley Yea Councilman John Yea Councilman Farrell Yea Mayor Sedgwick Yea OLD BUSINESS The applications for Building Inspector of Grover Alexander and Adolph LaBonde were considered. Motion by Councilman Friedley that Adolph LaBonde be appointed Building Inspector at a salary of $50 per month, seconded by Councilman Farrell and by vote CARRIED. Roll call vote being as follows:- Councilman Washburn Yea Councilman Friedley Yea Councilman John Yea Councilman Farrell Yea Mayor Sedgwick Yea NEW BUSINESS Mayor Sedgwick ask if any citizens had any remarks to make. Mr. Blake ask to have the Sunday Sale of Alcoholic Beverages cleared up. Mr. Bennett ask about revising the Building Code. Mr. Kean ask about weed cutting in Edgewater Acres and road scrapping. Mr. Hanson ask about allowing the C. of C. using part of the Youth room for storage space. u u u o NEW BUSINESS Mayor Sedgwick stated we would go back to new business as Mr. DeLoach had an ordinance to present to the Council. ORDINANCES ORDINANCE #136 AN ORDINANCE OF DECLARATION OF INTENT TO EXTEND THE TERRITORIAL LIMITS OF THE CITY OF EDGEWATER, FLORIDA TO INCLUDE THEREIN BY ANNEXATION A TRACT OF LAND LYING CONTIGUOUS THERETO AND BEING WITHIN THE SAME COUNTY; PROVIDING FOR THE r.'1ANNER OF OBJECTIONS THERETO; AND EFFECTIVE DATE THEREOF. The above Ordinance was read in full by Attorney Brannon and dis- cussed. Motion made by Councilman Farrell this Ordinance be adopted, seconded by Councilman John and passed by the vote of the City Council of the City of Edgewater, Florida at a regular meet- ing on the 8th day of October, A.D. 1956.
