REGULAR MEETING OF THE CITY COUNCIL
OF THE CITY OF EDGEWATER, VOLUSIA
COUNTY, FLORIDA HELD OCT. 29th, 1956.
The Regular Meeting of the City Council of the City of Edgewater,
Florida held October 29th, 1956 was called to order by Mayor George
O. Sedgwick at 1:30 P.M.

The Minutes of the Regular Meeting held October 22nd were read.
Motion by Councilman Farrell these minutes stand approved as read,
seconded by Councilman John and by vote CARRIED.
COMMUNICATIONS
A letter was read from the Board of Governors of the Edgewater
Community Center rejecting the request of the City Council to move
the Library into the Southeast Room of the Community Center.
A letter was also read from the Edgewater Volunteer Fire Department
recommending that the Council approve Henry McFarland as Fire
Chief. Motion by Councilman Farrell that a letter of approval be
written to the Fire Department approving the appointment of Henry
McFarland as Chi3f. Seconded by Councilman John and by vote
CARRIED. Ordinance to be written up by Attorney Brannon for the
next Council Meeting.
Two bills were presented. A note from the Bank of New Smyrna and
a bill from Attorney Brannon for legal notice published in the
New Smyrna Newspaper on Bond Validation. Motion by Councilman
Farrell the City pay the note and also Attorney Brannon. Seconded
by Councilman John and by vote CARRIED. ";'
/The Clerk ask that an Auditor be appointed. Motion by Councilman
\Farrell, Mr. Genter be contacted and the fee expected. Seconded
by Councilman John and by vote CARRIED.
A discussion followed on installing a telephone for the Building
Inspector Mr. LaBonds, to be listed under City of Edgewater,
Building Inspector. It was unanimously agreed that this phone
be installed for the convenience of all parties.
Mr. John Grafton came before the Council and aks permission for the
Chamber of Commerce to place a large sign within the City Limits.
He was advised that the sign Ordinance does not permit signs of
this size within the City Limits and that the City would not vary
from the rules laid down in this Ordinance.
There being no further business Councilman Washburn moved we do
now adjourn, seconded by Councilman Farrell and by vote CARRIED.
