SPECIAL MEETING
APRIL 3, 2007
3:30 P.M.
MINUTES
CALL TO ORDER
Chairwoman Haughwout called the Special Meeting to order at
11:37 a.m. at the Edgewater Public Library.
ROLL CALL
Members present were: Chairwoman Jean Haughwout, Marie
Goodrich, Anne McDevitt, Laverna McGinnis, and Delores
Shaw. Irene Mackie and Barbaradale Gilmore were excused.
Also present were Ruth McCormack, Head Librarian; Lucinda
Colee, Interim Director of Library Systems; Suzan Howes,
New Smryna Beach Regional Librarian; Pam Rutan, Assistant
Head Librarian; Recording Secretary Lisa Bloomer; and City
Clerk Susan Wadsworth.
There was a pledge of allegiance to the Flag.
MEETING PURPOSE
The purpose of the meeting was to recognize the Library
volunteers.
Chairwoman Haughwout read a prepared statement of “What is
a Volunteer” and expressed her appreciation to the
volunteers.
Ms. McCormack read a prepared statement regarding spices in
conjunction with the theme of the luncheon being
“Volunteers are the Spice of Life”.
Ms. McCormack introduced the members of the Library Board.
Ms. McCormack expressed regrets for Eva Williams, who was
not able to be at the luncheon.
Ms. McDevitt gave the blessing.
At this time everyone enjoyed a delicious lunch.

The entertainment this year consisted of Richelle Smith &
Cindy Garlit acting out the Charlie & Lola storybook “No,
I’ve Won!”
Ms. Rutan read some quotes from books that included the
word spice and thanked the volunteers for their help at the
library.
Ms. Shaw thanked Jeanne Foster for helping out with the
favors, which were teacup mats.
Ms. Rutan named Sherry Shambora as the winner with the most
volunteer hours, 991 hours.
Ms. McCormack and Ms. Rutan passed out the certificates.
Ms. McCormack thanked everyone for coming.
ADJOURNMENT
There being no further business, the meeting adjourned at
12:35 p.m.
