A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
EDGEWATER, FLORIDA ESTABLISHING A
CITIZEN/BUSINESS RECOGNITION PROGRAM;
REPEALING ALL RESOLUTIONS IN CONFLICT
HEREWITH AND PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, the City Council desires to establish an awards program to formally
recognize outstanding citizens and businesses that have brought credit to the City of Edgewater;
and
WHEREAS, the City Council has developed guidelines and procedures for the awards
program; and
NOW,THEREFORE,BE IT RESOLVED by the City of Edgewater:
Section 1. The City of Edgewater hereby establishes a Citizen/Business Recognition
Program to be awarded quarterly,as well as an annual Mayor's Special Award.
Section 2. The document entitled "Citizen/Business Recognition Program", Exhibit "A"
attached hereto and incorporated herein governs the nomination and selection process for the
Citizen/Business Recognition program.
Section 3. All resolutions in conflict are hereby repealed.
Section 4.This resolution shall take effect upon adoption.

CITIZEN/BUSINESS RECOGNITION PROGRAM
The Edgewater City Council created the Citizen/Business Recognition Program to recognize, on
a quarterly basis, Edgewater residents and businesses whose volunteerism, service and
dedication have made a significant contribution to the City of Edgewater. The Mayors Special
Award will be awarded annually in November. Recipients will be invited to attend a City
Council meeting to receive their award and will also be recognized on the City's social media
pages and newsletter. Recipients of the Mayors Special Award will also have the honor of being
the Grand Marshal of the annual Christmas parade. Nominees must be residents or businesses of
the City of Edgewater.
GENERAL GUIDELINES
Nominees need only be nominated once to be considered for an award. The number of
nominations received for each individual or business shall bear no weight on Council's decision.
Nominations shall be kept on file for six months.
CRITERIA/ELIGIBILITY
a. Nominations are accepted for individuals, groups, or businesses.
b. Current or former (within the last six months) residents/businesses are eligible for the
awards.
c. Nominees should
a. Have demonstrated exceptional volunteer service that shows a dedication to
making the City a great place to live,work, or play.
b. Made a positive difference in a fellow citizen's life or has demonstrated a care or
concern for the City and its residents.
c. Have worked with or organized other individuals to solve a problem in the city or
has a mission to better the City in a positive way.
d. Be an example to Edgewater residents of the qualities of honesty, integrity, and
service.
NONIINATION PROCESS
Nomination forms are available on the City website and at City Hall and can be submitted at any
time to the City Clerk's Office. Nominations may be made by any individual as long as the
nominee meets the criteria/eligibility listed above. Nominations must include the individual,
group or business name, contact information and a narrative describing why the individual,
group or business should be selected. The individual submitting the nomination is encouraged to
provide their name, phone number and email address to allow the City Clerk's Office to make
contact in the event clarification is needed.
SELECTION PROCESS
Each quarter a member of City Council, rotating in order, will select the recipient from the
nominations submitted to the City CIerk's Office.
The Mayors Special Award is not contingent upon nominations and will be awarded in
November of each year.
The selected recipient(s)will be invited to attend an upcoming City Council meeting to receive
their award.
