REGULAR MEETING OF- THE CITY COUNCIL
OF THE CITY OF EDGEWATER, VOLUSIA
COUNTY, FLORIDA HELD NOV. 5th, 1956.
The Regular Meeting of the City Council of the City of Edgewater
held November 5th, 1956 was called to order by Mayor George O.
Sedgwick at 1:30 P.M.

The minutes of the meeting held October 26th, 1956 were read.
Motion by Councilman John these minutes stand approved as read,
seconded by Councilman Farrell and by vote CARRIED.
Mr. DeLoach, Attorney representing Florida Shores appeared before
the Council and ask on behalf of Mr. Moynahan and Associates to
repeal Ordinance #136 of Declaration of intent to extend the
Territorial Limits of the City of Edgewater, Florida. Mr. DeLoach
stated when they applied for annexation of Florida Shores it was
the sole purpose of giving benefit to the City and did not expect
opposition and rather than get the City involved in a long drawn
out law suit or any local frictional controversy they felt it best
to ask that the Ordinance be repealed. He stated Mr. Moynahan
did not have any hard feelings with this Council as they had always
co-operated with him in every way.
ORDINANCE
ORDINANCE #138 REPEALING ORDINANCE NO. 136:
The above Ordinance was read in full by Attorney Brannon and
motion made by Councilman Farrell this ordinance be adopted,
seconded by Councilman Friedley and passed by the vote of the
City Council of the City of Edgewater, Florida, at a Regular
Meeting on the 5th day of November, 1956. Roll call vote being
as follows:-

Councilman Friedley Yea
Councilman John Yea
Councilman Farrell Yea
Mayor Sedgwick Yea
Upon motion duly made by Councilman Washburn, seconded by
Councilman Friedley and unanimously carried, the requirement
of reading said Ordinance upon second reading was waived and
the Ordinance was ordered put upon final passage..
Passed by the vote of the City Council of the City of Edgewater,
Florida, at a regular meeting of said council held on November
5th, 1956 and approved as provided by law, the vote of said - -
council on roll call being as follows:-

Attorney Gillespie then appeared before the Council with a
plat of Mr. Robert Fuller's land and ask for its approval.
After a discussion, Mr. Fuller was informed if he would widen
and shell the lane leading into this plat it would be approved
by the Council. Mr. Fuller agreed to give part of his land
and also contact the other lot owner for his share of the street.

ORDINANCE #139 CREATING AND ESTABLISHING A VOLUNTEER FIRE DEPART-
MENT IN THE CITY OF EDGEWATER, FLORIDA; PROVIDING FOR THE DUTIES
AND POWERS, RULES AND REGULATIONS OF SAID FIRE DEPARTMENT.
The above Ordinance was read in full by Attorney Brannon and
motion made by Councilman Farrell this ordinance be adopted,
seconded by Councilman Washburn and passed by the vote of the
City Council of the City of Edgewater, Florida, at a regular
meeting on the 5th day of November, A.D. 1956. Roll call being
as follows:-

Upon motion duly made by Councilman Washburn, seconded by Council-
man Friedley and unanimously carried, the requirement of reading said

Mr. LaBonde, the Building Inspector appeared before the Council
and ask that the building and zoning Ordinances be brought up
to date or new Ordinances passed covering same. The Mayor
stated that some afternoon in the near future he would meet
with Mr. LaBonde and the City Attorney and go over the old
ordinances and make necessary changes.
There being no further business Councilman Friedley moved we
do now adjourn, seconded by Councilman Farrell and by vote
CARRIED.
