The Regular Meeting of the City Council of the City of Edgewater, Florida held December 10th, 1956 was called to order by Mayor George O. Sedgwick at 7:30 P.M. ROLL CALL Mayor George O. OFFICERS REPORT The Clerk read the Clerk's Cash Statement and the Budget Report for1the Month of November. Also the Librarian's Report for :November. Fire Chief McFarland reported thnee fires last month. I U Q Q () NEW BUSINESS Attorney Chisholm aappeared before the Council with a replat of Plat #5 Edgewater Acres Subdivision. Motion by Councilman Washburn this plat be accepted and signed by the Mayor, seconded by Councilman Farrell and by vote CARRIED. Attorney Chisholm then ask about the Ocean Ave. R.R. Crossing. Att 'y Brannon answeredkthat the agreement covering the crossing had been burned up and he would take the blame for the delay on this crossing. Petitions were presented with approximately 225 names for sale of Beer & Wine on Sunday. After hearing from all Councilman and several citizens from the floor covering their views on this matter, a motion was made by Councilman Washburn to table these petitions for one month until the next regular evening meeting for further study. Seconded by Councilman John and by vote CARRIED. Roll call vote being as follows: Councilman Washburn Yea Councilman Friedley Yea Councilman John Yea Councilman Farrell Nay Mayor Sedgwick Yea Dogs running at large were discussed. Councilman Friedley stated the situation was bad in #2 District and Councilman Washburn stated it was the same in #1 District. After a discussion it was decided to see what could be done about an enclosure to keep dogs for at least three days before destroying them. Insurance was discussed. Mr. Robertson to let us know if the Workmen's Compensation Insurance covers Volunteer Fmmen and if so the policy we now have is to be cancelled. Mr. John Gibbs ask for the floor and stated at the last meeting of the Civic Association a committee of four, Mr. Brown, Mr. Bennett, Mr. Frantzen and himself were appointed to contact the City to see about leveling a tract of land approximately four acres for a football field and base ball diamond for the youth of the City. He stated the City had the land and it would not cost much, as they probably would not be ask to furnish anything but a few bats and balls. Councilman Farrell made a motion that the City prepare a suit- able place for base ball field and other recreation. Seconded by Councilman Washburn and by vote CARRIED.
