REGULAR MEETING OF TH: E CITY COUNCIL
OF THE CITY OF EOOEWATER, VOLUSIA
COUNTY, FLORIDA HELD DEC. 17th, 1956.
The Regular Meeting of the City Council of the City of Edgewater,
Florida held December 17th, 1956 was called to order by Mayor George
O. Sedgwick at 1:30 P.M.

The minutes of the Regular Meeting held December 10th were read. Motion
by Councilman Friedley these minutes stand approved as read, seconded by
Councilman Farrell and by vote CARRIED.
A discussion followed on the purchase of a new Police Car. A price of
$497.50(was submitted by Nieburger Chevrolet Co.( Motion by Councilman
Friedley we purchase a new Police Car for this price was seconded by
Councilman Farrell and by vote CARRIED. Roll call vote being as follows:-

Mayor Sedgwick Yea
Discussion on Police Chief Norman being appointed a Deputy Sherriff in
this district. Motion by Councilman Farrell the Council grant per-
mission to Chief Norman to accept the position of Deputy Sheriff. Second-
ed by Councilman Washburn and by vote CARRIED.
ORDINANCE
ORDINANCE #141 AMENDI~ SECTION 7-E OF ORDINANCE NO. a OF THE CITY OF EOOE-
WATER, FLORIDA, BY ELIMINATING A PROVISION AUTHORIZING TRAIIERS WHIIE A
BUILDING IS UNDER CONSTRUCTION.
The above Ordinance was read in full and passed by the vote of the City
Council of the City of Edgewater, Florida at a regular meeting on the
17th dayof December, A. D. 1956.
Motion made by Councilman Farrell this ordinance be adopted, seconded
by Councilman Washburn and by vote CARRIED. Roll call vote being as
follows:-

The above and foregoing Ordinance was ordered put upon finalpassage
at a regular meeting of the City Council of the City of Edgewater on
the 14th day of January, A. D. 1956.
Discussion on grading and scraping streets. Mayor Sedgwick stated Florida
Shores had offered the use of their equipment for this work. The City to
pay the operator. Motion by Councilman Farrell we obtain a Grader and
Scraper from Florida Shores and the City pay the driver. Seconded by
Councilman Friedley and by vote CARRIED.
The Mayor stated as all City and State offices were closed the City
Hall would be closed next Monday December 24th and also Monday December
31st.
A letter was read from J. U. Gillespie pertaining to property purchased
by Mr. Joseph V. Jannnes in Edgewater Acres stating the shelled street
was occupying from two to three feet of his land. Mayor Sedgwick stated
he had inspected this property and it was up to the City to scrape the
shell from in front of this property and he would see that this was done
as soon as possible with the approval of the Council.
There being no further business Councilman Friedley moved we do now
adjourn, seconded by Councilman Farrell and by vote CARRIED.
