A Regular Meeting of the City Council of the City of Edgewater, Florida
held January 14th, 1957 was called to order by Mayor George O. Sedgwick
at 7:30 P.M.

The minutes of the Regular Meeting held January 7th and a Special
Meeting held at 1:30 P.M. January 14th were read. Motion by Councilman
Friedley these minutes stand approved as read, seconded by Councilman
Washburn and by vote CARRIED.

Motion by Councilman John these bills be paid and be made a part of the
minutes, seconded by Councilman Farrell and by vote CARRIED.
OFFICERS REPORT
The Clerk read the Clerk's Cash Statement and the Budget Report for the
month of December, 1956, also the Librarian's Report for December.
COMMUNICATIONS
A letter was read from the State Road Department of Florida, enclosing a
Resolution to be passed by the City Council wai'liing and subordinating
certain City Tax Sale Certificates now held by the City of Edgewater.
The Resolution was read in full by Attorney Brannon and motion made by
Councilman Washburn this Resolution be adopted, seconded by Councilman
John and by vote CARRIED. Roll call vote being as follows:-

A letter was also read from W. L. Robertson pertaining to USF & G Policy
No. VFC 13191 - Volunteer Fire Co. Accident USF & G Policy No. J 260345
Workmen's Compensation, City of Edgewater - insured. After a discussion
about double coverage on these policies, it was suggested this be tabled
until an investigation could be made.
ORDINANCE
ORDINANCE # 141 AMENDING SECTION 7-E of ORDINANCE NO. B OF THE CITY OF
EIGEWATER, FLORIDA, BY ELIMINATING A PROVISION AUTHORIZING TRAILERS WHILE A
BUILDING IS UNDER CONSTRUCTION.
The above Ordinance was read in full and passed by the vote of the City
Council of the City of Edgewater, Florida at a regular meeting on the 14th
day of January, 1957.
The above and foregoing Ordinance was ordered put upon final passage at a
regular meeting of the City Council of the City of Edgewater on the 14th
day of January, A.D. 1957 and motion made by Councilman Friedley for its
adoption, seconded by Councilman Washburn and by vote CARRIED. Said Roll
Call vote being as follows:-

RESOLUTION
A Resolution and contract agreement to enter imto an agreement with
John W. Martin, as Trustee of the property of Florida East Coast Railway
Company, and not individually wherein and whereby said City of Edgewater,
Florida is given the right and pri~ilege to use for public road crossing
purposes only that part of the right of way and property of said Florida
East Coast Railway ComPanY in the City of Edgewater, Florida. This Reso-
lution cov.ers crossing in Florida Shores Subdivision.
The above Resolution was read in full by Attorney Brannon and motion made by
Councilman John this Resolution be adopted, seconded by Councilman Farrell and
by ~ote CARRIED. Roll Call vote being as follows:-

NEW BUSINESS
Discussion on Streets. Each Councilman was asked to pick out a street to
be black-topped and one to be graded and shelled in his respective District.
The following snreets were named to be black~opped:
District # 1 - Dixwood Avenue
District # 2 - Evergreen Street
District # 3 - Fernald Street from Ocean Avenue to
New Hampshire
District # 4 - Hardin Place

The following streets to be graded and oiled:
District # 1 - Hamilton Street
District # 2 - Western Avenue
District # 3 - Hotel Avenue
District # 4 - Orange Avenue
Discussion followed about black-topping Flagler Avenue and Mr. Nat Brown
stated he would stand half the expense of black-topping Flagler Avenue from
Park Avenue to Section 5 of Edgewater Acres Subdivision.
J..iotion by Councilman Farrell the City enter into an agreement with Mr. Brown
to black-top Flagler Avenue to Section # 5 in Edgewater Acres, an 18 foot
striu, the cost of one half or 50% to be assumed by Mr. Brown. Seconded by
Councilman John and by ~ote CARRIED. Roll Call vote being as follows:-

Mayor Sedgwick Yea
Mayor Sedgwick opened the meeting for a discussion of Sunday sale of Beer,
Wine and Ale. After various citizens had spoken for and against Sunday Sale
of Beer, Wine and Ale, it was discussed by the Council.
Motion was made by Councilman Farnell that Beer, Wine and Ale be put back on
sale Sunday from 12:00 o'clock noon to 12:00 midnight. There was no SECOND
TO THIS MOTION.
There being no further business, Councilman Friedley moved we do now adjourn,
seconded by Councilman Farrell and by ~ote CARRIED.
