RffiULAR MEETING OF THE CITY COUNCIL
OF THE CITY OF EWEWATER, FLORIDA,
HELD MARCH 11th, 1957.
The Regular Meeting of the City Council of the City of Edgewater, Florida,
held March 11th, 1957 was called to order by Mayor George O. Sedgwick at
7:30 P.M.

The minutes of the Regular Meeting held March 4th,1957 were read. Motion
by Councilman Washburn these minutes stand approved as read, seconded by
Councilman Friedley and by vote CARRIED.

Motion by Councilman Farrell these bills be paid and be made a psrt of the
minutes, seconded by Councilman Washburn and by vote CARRIED.
OFFICERS REPORT
The Clerk read the Clerk's Cash Statement and the Budget Report for the
month of February. Also the Librarian's report for February.

COMMUNICATIONS
Communications were read from Clifton W. McKinley resigning as of the 1st
of April. Also request from Vera Mclane for a Railroad Crossing at
Highland Ave. in Highland Shores Subdivision. Also Bids from White Sands
and Material of $2.23 ner Square Yard for hot asphalt and J. N. Prevatt for
Koldrock Asphalt at $1.31 per Square Yard to be placed in front and across
from Post Office Building on Park Ave. Also bids on shelling Magnolia and
Palmetto Streets from Hanson & McCallister of $1,380.00 and from P. P.
& D. E. Cole for $600.00.
On the letter from Vera Mclane it was suggested by Attorney Brannon that
the City make no applications for crossings at the present until the crossing
at Ocean Avenue is settled. Mrs.McLane to be advised of this action.
On the Bids for shelling Magnolia St. and Palmetto St. a motion was made
by Councilman Farrell that the bid of P. P. & D. E. Cole of $600.00 be
accepted and a contract be drawn up. Seconded by Councilman Washburn and
by vote CARRIED. Roll Call being as follows:-

On Bids for Black-top in front and across from Post Office Building a motion
was made by Councilman Washburn that the City apcept the bid of J. N. Prevatt
for $500.00, seconded by Councilman John and by vote CARRIED. Roll call vote
being as follows:-

Attorney Brannon read a Notice of Local Legistation to be published in a
local paper, in which he ask that the Mayor be authorized to sign same.
Motion by Councilman John the Mayor be authorized to sign such notice,
seconded by Councilman Washburn' and by vote CARRIED. Roll call vote being
as follows: .

Attorney Brannon read Bill of Complaint filed by Edgewater Acres Homes, Inc.
versus City of Edgewater and stated as City Attorney he would answer the plea
and defend the City in all suits and suggested that the Council give the Mayor
and City Clerk authority to sign all papers, and there would be no discussion
at the present as the time to discuss this was in Court.
Motion by Councilman Washburn the Mayor and~City Clerk be authorized to sign
any papers in connection with this suit. Seconded by Councilman Friedley and
by vote CARRIED. Roll call vote being as follows:-

ORDINANCES
ORDINANCE #147 PROVIDING FOR THE LICENSING OF AIL DffiS WITHIN THE CORPORATE
LIMITS OF THE CITY OF Erom-rATER, FLORIDA: PROHIBITING DffiS FROM RUNNING AT
LARGE irlITHIN THE CORPORATE LDIITS DURING CERTAIN PERIODS: AUTHORIZING THE
lliPOUNDING AND DESTRUCTION OF DOGS: PROVIDING A PENALTY AND REPEALING AIL
ORDINANCES IN CONFLICT THEREWITH.
The above Ordinance was read in full and motion made by Councilman Washburn
this ordinance be adopted, seconded by Councilman Farrell and passed by the
vote of the City Council of the City of Edgewater, Florida, at a regular
meeting on the 11th day of March, A. D. 1957. Roll call vote being as follows:-

Upon motion duly made by Councilman Farrell, seconded by Councilman John
and unanimously carried the requirement of reading said ordinance upon second
reading was waived, and the ordinance was ordered put upon final passage.
Passed by the vote of the City Council of the City of Edgevmter, Florida at
a Regular Meeting of said Council held on the 11th day of March, A. D. 1957
and approved as provided by Law, the vote of said Council on r01l call being

ml BUSINESS
Mayor Sedgwick stated the Chamber of Commerce had printed Brochure's and
the City derived a lot of benefit from this both in progress and growth, and
he was limited to state what the Council v!ould do inhelping to defray expenses
of, but felt some help should be given. Motion was made by Councilman Washburn
the City pay half the expense of these Brochure's. Seconded by Councilman
Farrell and by vote CARRIED. Roll call vote being as follows:-

Mayor Sedgwick then ask that the Ordinance on Council Procedure be read. This
vms read and discussed and ,.rill be acted upon at the next meeting of the Council.
There being no further business Councilman Friedley moved we do now adjourn,
seconded by Councilman Farrell and by vote CARRIED.
