The Regular Meeting of the City Council of the City of Edgevmter, Florida, held April 15th, 1957 was called to order by Mayor George O. Sedgwick at 1:30 P.M. ROLL CALL ~2yor George O. Motion by Councilman Farrell these minutes stand approved as submitted, seconded by Councilman y.lashburn and by vote CARRIED. BILLS & ACCOUNTS C. K. Halley $180.00 Motion by Councilman Farrell this bill be paid and be made a part of the minutes, seconded by Councilman Washburn and by vote CARRIED. COMMUNICATIONS A letter was read from T. R. Alcock pertaining to the sale of Water Revenue Certificates. ~lso a letter from Joseph A. Scarlett regarding Big Brother Movement of Volusia County, Florida, asking that members of the Council be present at a meeting to be held April 15th at 7:30 P.M. in Deland Chamber fo Commerce. RESOLUTIONS A RESOLUTION APPROVI~G FORM AND SUBSTANCE OF PROPOSED LEGISLATIVE ACT ENTITLED "AN ACT TO VALIDATE, LEGALIZE, RATIFY .Mill CONFIRM ORDINANCE NO. 151 OF THE CITY OF EIYJ.EV-I:'i.TER, FLORIDA .A.ND ENTITLED' AN ORDINANCE GF')JITING TO FLORIDA P01.vER ~ND LIGHT COMPANY, ITS SUCCESSORS AND ASSIGNS, A.1\J ELECTRIC FRANCHISE, AND IMPOSING PROVISIONS AND CONDITIONS RELATING THER-~O'. Q u ORDINANCES AN ORDINANCE PERMITTING THE SALE OF BEER & ALE ON SUNDAY AND SETTING FORTH THE TIJvlE FOR SAID SAlES. The above Ordinance was read in full by Attorney Brannon and a discussion follo..red b~r the City Council and Citizens present. Mayor Sedgvd.ck sugeested this ordinance be re-1-rritten and submitted at a later date for re-consider- ation. After a lengthy discussion a motion 1.ras made by Councilman Farrell if it would be legal to hold a referendum vote by Districts on the Sale of Beer & Ale on Sunday. There vras no second to this motion. At this point of the meeting a letter vms presented frem the Civic Association asking the Council to put some pressure on the FEC Railroad to get the Ocean Avenue Crossing. Attorney Brannon stated he had v~itten two letters to the R.R. asking them to hurry this crossing, but to date had had no reply, but he would go to St. Augustine and see them personally after the first of the month. Motion by COlmcilman John the City Attorney personally go to St. Augustine and see what can be done. Seconded by Councilman Seng and by vote C~RRIED. PURGING REGISTRATION BOOKS Each Councilman was given the registration book for his respective district to strike out all names of registrated voters who had moved avmy or deceased. Motion by Councilman Farrell the follo"~ng names be stricken from the Registration Books, seconded by Councilman Seng, and by vote CARRIED. District #1 Baker, Emma A. Butler, Ma~J V.
