The Regular Meeting of the City Council of the City of Edgewater, Florida,
held April 22nd, 1957 was called to order by Mayor George o. Sed~'dck at
1:30 P.M.

The minutes of the Regular Meeting held April 15th, 1957 vrere presented to
each Councilman. Motion by Councilman Farrell these JIlinutes stand approved
as submitted, seconded by Councilman Seng and by vote CARRIED.
At this point of the meeting Mr. Fred DeMott, Chairman of the Civil Defense
of Volusia County explained the functions and benefits derived through Civil
Defense. In able to become elegible for benefits of the Civil Defense the
City must pass a resolution declaring themselves a part of this program.
COMMUNICATIONS
A copy of a letter from Attorney Brannon was given to each Councilman glvlng
a ruling on Sunday sale of Beer and Ale in districts. Also a letter was read
from Gordon T. Butler, Executive Secretary of Florida League of Municipalities
giving the time of hearings on Bill 104 giving one cent gasoline tax to
municipalities to be used to maintain streets, bridges, etc.

A RESOLUTION DIRECTED TO THE VOLUSIA COUNTY LEGISLATIVE DELEGATION CONSISTING
OF SENATOR E. W. GAUTIER AND REPRESENTATIVES JAMES H. s\^JEE}lEY, JR. AND FREDERICK
B. KARL, REQUESTING THAT A SPECIAL ACT AHENDING THE CHA..>tTER OF THE CITY OF
EffiE\~ATER BE PASSED, PROVIDING THAT THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF EffiE\1ATER
MAY, UPON PETITION FRON A MAJORITY OF THE 011NERS OF PROPERTY ABUTTING ON AND
LYIil.D ADJACENT TO THE PRESENT CORPORATE LIMITS OF THE CITY OF EDGETtJATER, ANNEX
SAID PROPERTY BY ORDINANCE, AND PROVIDING THE PROCEDURE TO BE FOLLOI'JED BY THE
COUNCIL FOR SUCH ANNEXATION: SAID SPECIAL ACT TO BE PRESENTED BY ADVERTISEMENT
AND NOT BY REFERENDUM.
The above Resolution was read in full by Attorney Brannon and discussed.
Motion made by Councilman Washburn this Resolution be adopted, seconded by
Councilman Seng and by vote CARRIED. Roll call vote being as follows:-

the dividing line was in his Subdivision in order that the parties living in
homes on the dividing line 1"ould knm" in which district to register. Lots
55, 68 and 81 are divided. Mr. Brannon, City Attorney ruled that anyone living

in homes ....1here the lot was cut in half by the dividing line, 1rlOuld be
eligible to vote in the district of their choice.
Ne1ri Road Equipment was discussed and prices quoted from tvlO concerns.
Prices were quoted on Road Roller and Oil distributor.

Motion by Councilman Farrell the City purchase a Galion Roller for $4,550.00
and a New Haintenance Unit ~2,025 .00. Seconded by Councilman Washburn and by
vote CARRIED. An additional appropriation to be made at the next Regular
Council Heeting.
There being no further business Councilman Seng moved we do now adjourn, second-
ed by Councilman Farrell and by vote CARRIED.
