The Regular Meeting of the City Council of the City of Edgewater, Florida, held June 3rd, 1957 was called to order by Mayor George O. Sedgwick at 1:30 P.M. ROLL CALL Ma;yor George O. Brannon, Jr. Present Present Present Present Present Present Present The Minutes of the Regular Meeting held May 27th were presented to each Councilman for approval. Motion by Councilman John these minutes stand apprEWed as submitted, seconded by CounciJJna.n Farrell and by vote CARRIED. COMMUNICATIONS A letter was read from Mr. Wild, of Briley, Wild Associates asldng that the City take action to permit the letting of contracts for the drilling of three 2-inch test wells and one 8-inch well. A letter was also read from Mr. Wild reconmending that the City Council con- tact Mr. Saxon, County Conmissioner, to determine if Volusia County Will advance the necessary funds for the construction of crossovers of water mains on U.S. #1 prior to the construction of paving work. A letter was read f'rom Mr. Gleason of the Guardian Life Insurance Company of America stating because of the extremely unsettled conditions of the bond market in general they would not be able to purchase Water Revenue Certificates at this time. A letter was read from Councilman Washburn asldng for a leave of absence for two months.These conummications were tabled until later in the meeting. RESOWl'ION A RESOWl'ION AUTHORIZIR1 THE OORROWIlU OF $4,800.00 AND SE"n'11QG FORTH THE TERMS OF SAID WAN.. . The above Resolution authorizing the borrowing of the sum of $4,800 from the Bank of' New Snwrna pa;ying a simple interest rate of' 5% per annum, was read in f'ull and motion made by Councilman Washburn, seconded by Councilman Teague and adopted by the vote of' the City Council of the City of Edgewater, Florida at a regular meeting on the 3rd day of June, 1957, the vote of said Council on roll call being as follows:- Councilman Washburn CounciJJna.n Teague Councilman John Councilman Farrell Mayor Sedgwick Yea Yea Yea Yea Yea ORDINANCES AN ORDINANCE CHArnIID THE IDlE OF MEETIlU OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF EOOEWATER. The above Ordinance was read in full by Attorney Brannon and discussed. It was suggested this Ordinance be tabled for the time being. I (J j'o-~ .... ,-~-;'~.. Q u Mr. Gerson came before the Council and explained his plan for re-routing Highway #40. Motion by CO'Wlcilman Farrell the City is favorable to the proposed: re-route of #40, seconded by Councilman Washbwm and by vote CARRIED. It was also suggested that a letter be written to Mr. Richie Green and see if this is feasable. Also a letter to the Corp of Army Engineer's of Jacksonville on the Barge Canal. The comrmmications were then re-read. Motion by Councilman Washburn the City are in favor of putting down Test Wells as suggested in Mr. Wild's letter, seconded by Councilman John and by vote CARRIEDl Also Mr. Saxon to be contacted in regard to getting aid from the County for installing Water pipes across the highway before paving, and at the same time talk to him in regard to re-routing #40 Highway. Motion by Councilman Teague that Councilman Washburn be granted a leave of absence, seconded by Councilman John a nc! by vote CARRIED. Attorney ~annon stated the Electric Franchise had passed both the house and senate, but the annexation bill, whereby annexation by Ordinance would be legal had. not been acted upon. It was suggested that the Mayor contact the City Commissioners by letter regarding the purchase of water from the City of New ~ Beach at not more than 13~ per thousand gallon. Mr. Louis Cannavale was present and was given instructions on Police Duty. There being no further business Councilman Farrell moved we do now adjourn, seconded by CO'Wlcilman l'1ashburn and by vote .CARRIED.
