The Regular Meeting of the City Council of the City of Edgewater, Florida, held July 8th, 1957 ,-ras called to order by Mayor George O. Sedgwick at 7:30 P.M. ROLL CALL Mayor George O. OFFICERS REPORT The Clerk read the Clerk's Cash Statement and the Budget Report for the month of July, 1957. Also the Librarian's report. CrnMUNICATIONS A letter was read from John H. Moynahan asking that the $50.00 deposited with the City for fire protection before Florida Shores was annexed, be turned over to the Fire Department and the Auxiliary. Notion by Councilman Teague this money be turned over to the Fire Department and Auxiliary, seconeded by Council- man John and by vote CARRIED. -( u .. . (.) .. "() .....1.. ~ Resolutions - None ORDINANCES - None OLD BUSINESS :Hayor Sedgldck stated he was going to be too busy to at tend to the meetings with the School Board regarding the donation of the Dump for future school use and ask that the Council appoint a committee to handle this and ask also that the Councilmen give any assistance necessary. Motion was made by Councilman John that two members be appointed to co- operate with the City Council for a school site, namely}1r. Horace King and Nat BrOl'ffi. Seconded by Councilman Teague and by vote CARRIED. Mr. BrOl'ffi ask about Bill S\'fope, Jr. surveying of Turgot Ave. and the 5 acres for base-ball field. Mr. Brown stated if Mr. Swope was going to be unable to do this work to let him know and he would get his surveyor in and stand the cost as he wanted to start \-fork this Saturday. He stated the children need the play ground now and not later. Councilman Teague ask about the Ordinance' changing the meetings to all evening meetings. l~or Sedgwick stated this would be put on the agenda for the next meeting. Discussion followed on Police Officer Cannavale and a motion was made by Councilman Teague that Louis Cannavale be releaseci from duty as of July 9th, 1957. Seconded by Councilman John and vy vote CARRIED. Roll call vote being as follOlV'S:- Councilman Washburn Councilman Teague Councilman John Councilman Farrell Mayor Sedgwick Absent Yea Yea Absent Yea Mayor Sedgwick then ask each Councilman how they felt in regard to this matter. Councilman Teague said he felt Mr. Cannavale vIaS unsatisfactory. Councilman John stated he felt the same way.
