The Regular Meeting of the City Council of the City of Edgewater, Florida, held July 15th, 1957 was called to order by Mayor George O. Sedgwick at 1:30 P.M. ROLL CALL Mayor George O. Sedgwick Councilman D. L. Washburn Councilman C. G. Teague Councilman H. John Councilman B. Farrell City Clerk Frank F. Dippery City Att'y Fred R. Brannon, Jr. Present Absent Present Present Present Present Present The minutes of the Regular Meeting held July Sth were presented to each Councilman for approval. Motion by Councilman John these minutes stand approved as submitted, seconded by Councilman Teague and by vote CARRIED. C OIv1HUNI CATIONS None RESOLUTIONS None ORDINANCES ORDINANCE #162 AUTHORIZING THE RENTAL OF CITY Ov-lNED EQUIPNENT OF THE CITY OF EOOEVTATER AND SPECIFYING THE TERI-iS THEREOF. The above Ordinance was read in full and motion made by Councilman Teague it be adopted, seconded by Councilman Farrell and passed by the vote of the City Council ~ the City of Edgel'1ater, Florida, at a regular meeting held on the 15th day of July, A. D. 1957. Roll call vote being as follows:- Councilman ~vashburn Councilman Teague Councilman John Councilman Farrell Mayor Sedgwick Absent Yea Nay Yea Yea Upon motion duly made by Councilman Farrell, seconded by Councilman Teague and carried, the requirement of reading said Ordinance upon second reading was vmived, and the Ordinance was ordered put upon final passage. Passed by the vote of the City Council of the City of Edgevmter, Florida, at a regular meeting of said Council held on the 15th day of July, A. D. 1957 and approved as provided by Law, the vote of said Council on roll call being as follows:- Councilman Washburn Councilman Teague Councilman John Councilman Farrell Mayor Sedgvrick Absent Yea Pass Yea Yea AN ORDINANCE CHAIDINJ. THE TIME OF MEETING OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF EWEI'lATER, FLORIDA. The above Ordinance was read in full by Attorney Brannon and motion made by Councilman Teague to adopt this ordinance. There was no second to this motion. u Q ..P\ ,.,. '" i o o Mayor Sedgwick ask each Councilman to state h;i.s views. Councilman John stated meeting on Monday nights every week interferred with other meetings in the City and the l-1asonic Lodge and he would have to give up all these activities. Councilman Farrell stated he still felt the same as before on this issue. OLD BUSINESS Mayor Sedgwick ask 1011'. Brown what had been done about a meeting with the school board and also the ball field. Mr. Brown stated he and Mr. King were meeting tonight to go over plans and would then arrange a meeting ruth the school board. He also stated he had had no cooperation with 2~. Swoope in getting the ball field surveyed. Mayor Sedgwick stated he would contact Mr. Swoope in the morning and get him busy on this survey. NEW BUSINESS Attorney Brannon read a letter from Attorney Chisholm regarding his client Mrs. Sockrider of Evergreen Street asking damages of $250.00 for removal of a tree. A discussion followed on this and }1ayor Sedgwick suggested that condemnation suit be brought to get this land for a street. Councilman Teague ask permission to see 2frS. Sockrider personally before any action is taken. The City has one week in which to make their answer to Attorney Chisholm. ~~yor Sedgwick stated the only rmy to get this street settled once and for all was to get a Quit Claim Deed from the property owners. The Estimated Budget was read by the Clerk. Estimation being $59,625.00. Motion by Councilman Teague this estimated budget be accepted. Seconded by Councilman John and roll call taken as follows:- Councilman Washburn Councilman Teague Councilman John Councilman Farrell Mayor Sedgwick Absent Yea Yea Yea Yea Motion was then made by Councilman Farrell the Attorney drav/ up an Ordinance covering the Budget and an Ordinance setting the millage at 16 Mills the same as last year. Seconded by Councilman John and roll call being as follows:- Councilman Washburn Councilman Teague Councilman John Councilman Farrell l1ayor Sedgwick Absent Yea .Yea Yea Yea }~yor Sedgwick announced he would get the final Engineers Report on the pro- posed Water and Distribution System tomorrow and would personally drive to Atlanta and deliver them to the Housing and Home Finance Agency. Hayor Sedgwick also announced there would be a meeting ,'lith 1-fr. Renwick to- morrow at 10 o'clock to go over the Cemetery Charter, etc. There being no further business Councilman Teague moved we do now adjourn, seconded by Councilman Farrell and by vote CARRIED.
