The Regular Meeting of the City Council of the City of Edgewater, Florida,
held August 5th, 1957 was called to order by l.fayor George O. Sedgwick at
1:30 p.J.r.

The Minutes of the Regular Meeting held July 26th "rere presented to each
Councilman for approval. I-rotion by Councilman Farrell these nd.nutes stand
approved as subnd.tted, seconded by Councilman John and by vote CARRIED.
COMl1UNICATIONS
A letter was read from the Western Union Telegraph Company regarding the
cost of handling work on the Ocean Avenue Crossing. A cost of $115 for
this "Jork was quoted. Motion by Councilman Farrell the City inform the
Western Union Telegraph Company the bill be sent to the City for this
work, seconded by Councilman John and by vote CARRIED.
ORDINANCES
ORDINANCE #166 I-iAKING SUPPLEIvIENTAL APPROPRIATIONS FROl-I THE REVENUES TO BE
COLLECTED FROM THE CITY OF EIXIE\vATER, VOLUSIA COUNTY, FLORIDA, FOR THE FISCAL
YEAR ENDING OCTOBER 31st, 1957, FOR THE VARIOUS ITEMS OF THE CITY BUOOET.
The above Ordinance was read in full by Attorney Brannon, motion made by
Councilman Farrell this ordinance be adopted, seconded by Counci~an John
and passed by the vote of the City Council of the City of Edgewater, Florida,
at a regular meeting held on the 5th day of August, A. D. 1957. Roll call vote
being as follows:-

Upon motion duly made by Councilman John, seconded by Councilman Farrell and

at a regular meeting of said Council held on the 5th day of August, A. D.
1957, and approved as provided by law, the vote of said Council on roll

ORDINANCE #167 AMENDING SECTION 7 (c) (1) (b) OF ORDINANCE NO.8 OF
THE CITY OF EL'GEVIATER, FLORIDA.
The above Ordinance was read in full by Attorney Brannon and motion made
by Councilman Farrell this Ordinance be adopted, seconded by Councilman
John and passed by the vote of the City Council of the City of Edgewater,
Florida at a regular meeting held on the 5th day of August, A. D. 1957.

OLD BUSINESS
Discussion followed on drainage at Edgewater Acres. A number of residents
of this subdivision ''lere present. !vIr. Henard of Volusia County Health Dept.
stated the ditch now existing was 6 to 8 inches too shallow to allow free
flo1-! of drainage. Dr. Gallm'Tay stated he would like to see the recommandations
of State Engineer Berkoratz carried out. It was suggested that a larger cluvert
be put in on Flagler Avenue. l-hyor Sedgwick ask each Councilman "mat his ,.ashes
1'Tere. All answered in favor of putting a larger culvert on Flagler Avenue.
NEI'! BUSINESS
Discussion on bllrning debris on the high1'faY. 11ayor Sedg1'lick stated he had
contacted the Engineer of Hubbell Construction Company and he wanted a place
to burn the debris. Hotion by Councilman Farrell we allm'l burning at the
City Dump, seconded by Councilman John and by vote CARRIED. A letter to be
written to the Construction Company advising them of this action.
There being no further business Councilman Farrell moved we do now adjourn,
seconded by Councilman John and by vote CARRIED.
