OFFICERS REPORT The Clerk read the Budget Report and the Clerk's Cash Statement for the month of July. Also the Librarian's Report for the month of July. COI-iI.mNICATIONS ( A letter VIas read by the Clerk from the ~'lestern Union Telegraph Company stating they had authorized the work to be done on Ocean Ave. R.R. Crossing and bill to be sent to the City. Also a report was read from the Board of Governors of the Edgewater Community Center advising of the officers for the year ending July 1955. o. .. Q o o ........ Motion by Councilman Teague this letter be accepted as submitted, seconded by Councilman John and by vote CARRIED. OLD BUSHIESS I I }~. Brrn1n, Edgewater Acres stated that a ball field had Qeen cleared and Turgot Road opened, equipment purchased and only ,~iting for the City to shall the entrance road. l'!ayor Sedgwick stated there was no shell avail- able at present and several City streets needed shelling and it would take about 50 loads, therefore it would be some time before Turgot Road was shelled. lID'I BUSINESS Mayor Sedgwick ask each Councilman where there were new street lights needed in their respective Districts. #4 District - Hardin Place and Louisa Drive. #3 District - Palmetto St. and Ocean Ave. at R.R. Crossing #2 District - Hubbell at north end. #1 District - Palmetto St. at Canal Crossing. Mayor Sedgwick stated Florida Shores had requested 12 Street Lights on Indian River Boulevard west of the R.R. Crossing, ,.1hich they will pay for, for one two or three years, whichever the Council decides. Motion by Councilman Teague that a letter be written to Florida Power and Light Company instructing them to install these lights. Seconded by Councilman Farrell and by vote CARRIED. ~~yor Sedgwick then stated that a request had been made to raise the square footage in homes to be constructed, stating that the most of the homes being build today were larger than the square footage requirements as they nrnof stand. It was suggested that 600 Sq. Ft. be changed to 800 Sq. Ft. 900 Sq. Ft. to 1200 Sq. Ft. 1200 Sq. Ft. to 1500 or 1800 Sq. Ft. After hearing from a number of Citizens and Councilmen a motion was made by Councilman Farrell that the Ordinance be changed to 800 Sq. Ft. for the smallest home. No Second to this motion. Councilman Farrell then ask that his motion be stricken from the minutes. He then suggested that this be turned over to the Zoning Board to check and report back at the next regular meeting. }fuyor Sed~.dck stated the State Road Department had been using City Streets to haul heavy equipment and ask that action be taken to stop them. Discussion followed and motion made by Councilman Farrell that all ne,,!ly paved streets and streets to be paved be posted forbidding over two ton pa;;rload. Seconded by Councilman Teague and Attorne3r Brannon ''las instructed to draw up an Ordinance to cover these streets. Councilman John ask what accounting had been done by the Cemetary Association. Ivf.ayor Sed~.1ick stated he had not heard from ~.r. Renwick since the meeting. 14rs. Gunther ask about appointing Special Police for night duty in Florida Shores. She stated }~. Price is appointed by Florida Shores as night ~mtchman, but cars had been cowing in and parking and !Ifr. Price had been calling on Hr. Gunther to go "dth him to investigate. !ft"..ayor Sed~dck ask that }\fr. Price and Mr. Gunther come into the office and he would see about appointing them Special Police Officers. Hr. Gerson then appeared before the Council and ask them to approve the routing of Rd. 40 from Vlission City across to Park Ave. in Edge,.!ater. Motion by Council- man Farrell the City Council approve the new Route 40 to Park Ave. as proposed by map submitted and the City Attorney be authorized to write the County Comnrissioner of the Council's action. Seconded by Councilman Teague and by vote CARF.IED. There being no further business Councilman Farrell moved rTe do nOr! adjourn, seconded by Councilman Teague and by vote C.AR..1UED.
