RIDULAR MEETING OF THE CITY COUNCIL
OF THE CITY OF EOOEWATER, VOWSIA
COUNTY, FLORIDA, HELD SEPrEMBER30 )TH,
1957.
The Regular Meeting of the City Council of the City of Edgewater, Florida,
held Sept. 30th, 1957 was called to order by Mayor George O. Sedgwick at
1:30 P.M.

The Minutes of the Regular Meeting held Sept. 23rd, 1957 were presented to
each Councilman for his approval. Motion by Councilman John these minutes
stand approved as submitted, seconded by Councilman Farrell and by vote
CARRIED .
COMMUNICATIONS
Letters were read from Briley, Wild & Associates; Representative Herlong;
Senator Smathers and Ohio Congressman Baumhart regarding Home Finance &
Housing Application of the City for a Water Distribution System through
this Agenc:y.
ORDINANCE
AN ORDINANCE AUTHORIZIN1 AN EXPENDITURE IN EXCESS OF $2,000.00 FOR THREE TEST
WELLS AND TWO EIGHT INCH PERMANENT vJELLS.
The above Ordinance was read in full by Attorney Branrmn, and motion duly made
by Councilman Farrell for its adoption, seconded by Councilman John and passed
by the vote of the City Council of the City of Edgewater, Florida, at a regular
meeting held on the 30th day of September, A. D. 1957. Roll call vote being as
follows :-

Upon motion duly made by Councilman John, seconded by Councilman Farrell and
carried, the requirement of reading said Ordinance upon second reading was
waived, and the Ordinance was ordered put upon final passage.
Passed by the vote of the City Council of the City of Edgewater, Florida,
at a Regular Meeting of said Council held on the 30th day of September, A.D.
1957, and approved as provided by Law, the vote of said Council on roll call
being as follows:-

NE\v BUSINESS
Forms were received from Briley, Wild Associates, Engineers on the proposed
Water System, to be signed and sent back to the State Health Department for
approval on Test Wells. Motion by Councilman John the Mayor and City Clerk
be authorized to sign these forms and return to Briley, Wild & Associates,
seconded by Councilman Farrell and by vote CARRIED. Roll call vote being
as follows:-

Mayor Sedgwick stated specifications for Bids on 14 - 6n and 1 - 8" crossover
on U.S. #1 would be ready on Tuesday and ask for authority to advertise for
bids, to be received by October 21st. Motion by COtmcilman John advertisements
for Bids be placed in the News Journal and New SJI\VI'IUl Beach News at least two
consecutive weeks, seconded by Councilman Farrell and by vote CARRIED.
Discussion on the committee appointed to work with the School Board on the
purchase of the Dump for a Public School. Mayor Sedgwick stated he had been
contacted by Mrs. Cox and stated the board wanted to work directly with the
City Council and not through a committee. Motion by Councilman Farrell the
School Committee be dissolved. Seconded by Councilman John and by vote CARRIED.
Mayor Sedgwick stated he would like the Council to go in a body to inspect
a house on Sanchez Ave. to decide it would warrant repairing or be condemned.
PURGING OF RmISTRATION rooKS
Each Councilman was presented with a list of the Registered Voters and the
Clerk read the names from the books and names were entered to be stricken from
the books. The names of persons moving from one district to another, moving
out of the City and the Deceased are listed on an attached sheet to be stricken
from the books. Motion by Councilman John these names be stricken from the
Registration Books, seconded by Councilman Farrell and by vote CARRIED.
There being no further business Councilman Farrell moved we do now adjourn,
seconded by Councilman John and by vote CARRIED.
