Motion by Councilman Broga these minutes stand approved as submitted, seconded by Councilman Farrell and by vote CARRIED. RESOLUTIONS - None ORDINANCES In reference to an ordinance the Council had requested Attorney Chisholm to draw up, the Attorney said it was necessary to have a clarification of the definition of 'Contractor'. After varied opinions from the audience, the }myor stated that he ~mnts progress in this City, and does not want anything that would put a damper on it. The Attorney suggested that the Council meet \iLth the contractors. Councilman Broga stated that since the $1,000 bond had been required there had been no trouble. Councilman FarreLl suggested that a higher bond be required; Councilman Shaeffer said he would go along ~uth Councilman Farrell, that the bond be higher. v .... / .... u u u Councilman Shaeffer made a motion that the bond for General Contractors be $10,000; seconded by Councilman Farrell, roll call vote: Councilman Broga YEA. Councilman Shaeffer YEA. Councilman Henry YEA. Councilman Farrell YEA. Hayor Sedgodck YEA. Building Inspector LaBonde said it would be better to have an amendment to the ordinance - that all examinations for electrical and plumbing contractors be written. 1.1ayor Sedg1dck asked that this amendment be made. }myor Sedg1.uck asked the Council to re-consider the zoning variance they had granted Hr. Eisenberg and Hr. Gantz at the previous Council meeting 1.;hen he had been absent. Councilman Henry said that that meeting "las official or was not official, and if not, they would hold no more meetings if the }fuyor were absent. Councilman Shaeffer opposed the action of the }myor in bringing the watter up again and said he moved that the license be issued, seconded by Councilman Farrell, roll call vote: Councilman Broga Yea Councilman Shaeffer Yea Councilman Henry Yea Councilman Farrell Yea Hayor Sedgwick Nay Mrs. Gillespie and }trs. Roth were given the floor to speak about the proposed Nursery school they have planned for pre-school children, 4-5 years old. As soon as they have contacted the rest of adjoining property owners and have their approval, the Council are favorable to their plans. COHNUNICATIONS Letter from the Chamber of Commerce was read, inquiring why there is no side- walk on the North side of Park Avenue by the Prentiss Hardware. Mayor Sedgwick said that the work was done according to the engineer's specifications and he would see if the specifications had been followed. Letter was read from r~. D.C. Ketcham, representing a group of Edgewater Acres homeovmers, with an attached petition with 117 signatures, asking that the Council make arrangements to pave Flagler Avenue from its intersection with Park Avenue, South to Beulah and as much of Lake Avenue, Alice Street and east and west cross streets as circumstances permit. It also specified that they mean 'black top' or equivalent. CouncilFBn Shaeffer suggested that the petitioners meet vuth the City Council to talk it over. Hayor Sedgi'/ick set the date of :Monday evening, July 27th, at 7:30, at the Community Center, an open meeting for any who are interested. Mayor Sedgl".ick asked the Attorney to draw up an Ordinance giving the penalty for damage to fire hydrants. There being no further business, Councilman Farrell moved we do now adjourn, seconded by Councilman Shaeffer and by vote CARRIED. Time 9:10 P.H. " (.J . u - J u -.
