The Regular Meeting of the City Council of the City of Edgewater, Florida,
held July 6th, 1959 was called to order by Vice-Mayor Crawford C. Shaeffer
at 7:30 P.M.

The minutes of the Regular Meeting held June 15th and Special Meetings held
June 17th and June 25th were presented to each Councilman for his approval.
Motion by Councilman Henry these minutes stand approved as submitted, seconded
by Councilman Farrell and by vote CAR..ttIED.

Motion duly made by Councilman Broga these bills be paid and be made a part of
the minutes, seconded by Councilman Henry and by vote CARRIED.
COMNUNICATIONS
Letters were read from New Srnwrna Enterprizes, Inc.; Residents of Florida Shores,
Edgewater Community Center Board of Governors and also report of Treasurer of
Board of Governors.

Before this Ordinance was read Vice-Mayor Shaeffer stated a list of names
had been submitted for a Board of Governors and as the last board had really
only consisted of three working members ,.mo 'were Mr. Mosher, Mr. John and
}~s. McFarland, the Council had decided to abolish the board and appoint a
Board of Trustees to operate the Center.
ORDINANCE #226 DESIGNATING AND APPOINTING A BOARD OF TRUSTEES TO OPERATE,
J.fANAGE AND CONTROL THE CONI-illNITY CENTER BUILDING OF THE CITY OF EffiE\\fATER,
VOLUSIA COUNTY, FLORIDA.
The above Ordinance appointing, George Lear, Clifford Mosher, Herman John,
Gladelle McFarland and Ruth Driskel as Trustees was read in full by Attorney
Chisholm and motion duly made by Councilman Farrell this ordinance be adopted,
seconded by Councilman Broga and passed by vote of the City Council of the
City of Edgewater, Florida, at a regular meeting of said Council, held on the
6th day of July, A. D. 1959. Roll call vote being as follows:-

Upon motion duly made by Councilman Broga, seconded by Councilman Farrell and
carried, the requirement of reading said ordinance upon second reading was
waived and the ordinance was ordered put upon final passage.

regular meeting of said Council held on the 6th day of July, 1959 and approved

LIGHTED SIGNS ADVERTISING THE SALE OF BEER AND ALE BE'J.'TllEEN THE AFORESAID HOURS

FLORIDA.
Vice-Mayor Shaeffer ask for any comments from the floor after this ordinance was
read. There vlere no comments.
The above Ordinance was read in full and motion duly made by Councilman Farrell
this ordinance be adopted, seconded by Councilman HenrnJ and passed by vote of
the City Council of the City of Edgewater, Florida, at a regular meeting of said

}~. Frazier rose and thanked the Council for the action taken on behalf of
the businessmen.
NEVI BUSINESS
Letter from Itr. Bouchelle regarding Bulkhead line. Vice-~fa.yor Shaeffer suggested
a letter be kwritten to Mr. Bouchelle inforwing him no bulkhead has been es-
tablished, but the City are interested in establishing a bulkhead.
Petition from residents from Florida Shores. Vice-}fa.yor Shaeffer ask who would
act as spokesman and l1r. Armstrong stated he had been ask to be the spokesman.
Then Vice-~fa.yor Shaeffer ask who would be the spokesman for Florida Shores and
}~. Scofield stated he would act for Florida Shores. ~~. Armstrong then stated
the different complaints. Firstk they \'lanted to knOi'1 if there was a 'i'Jritten
contract with Florida Shores and if so, if they could procure a cO~J of sarne.
Mr. Scofield answered 11r. Armstrong stating there were 2700 acres to maintain
and it all takes time and they were making all the necessary corrections as
quickly as possible. Mttorney Chisholm was then ask to read the ag~ement with
Florida Shores and Vice-~fa.yor Shaeffer stated 11r. Armstrong would be furnished
vuth a copy of sarne as soon as it was tJrped. 11r. Boz stated there was not
adequate police protection as his burglary policy had been cancelled. It was
explained if he did not live in the house for only a month or so out of the year
no insurance company would carry such a policy. Vice-~fuyor Shaeffer stated he
was ceBtain the Police made the rounds of the subdivision regularly the sarne
as other parts of the City.
Regarding Examinations of Plumbers & Electricians. Hotion was duly made by
Councilman Henry the building inspector be instructed to give all \'1I'itten ex-
aminations to Plumbers & Electricians when applying for a License, seconded by
Councilman Farrell and by vote CARBIED.
:Nr. LaBonde then carne before the Council and explained }~. Eisenberg \-lould like
to procure a license to do business in Mr. Banets old building, but he had in-
formed him he could not allow them to do general auto repair and paint jobs in
the present building as it was against the ordinance. After a discussion }~.
Eisenberg carne before the Council and explained he wanted to do wheel aligning
and brake service and light motor tune up work. Each Councilwzn was ask to give
his opinion. Councilman Broga: Allo\-! a variance but no car painting. Councilman
Henry: O.K. if stipulated on the License just vlhat work is to be done. Counailman
Farrell: O.K. but put up a block building as soon as business warrants. Councilman
Farrell then moved we grant a Restricted License to }~. Eisenberg, stipulating
just what work is to be done, seconded by Councilman Henry and by vote CARRIED.

Plat of Read Sub-division. }~. Read posted a $1,000.00 Bond for completion of
the road according to F .H.A. Specifications and motion was duly made by Councilman
Broga this plat be accepted and ~fa.yor bekauthorized to sign sarne, seconded by
Councilman Farrell and by vote CARRIED. Roll call vote being as follows:-
