REnULAR MEETING OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF EOOEWATER, VOLUSIA COUNTY, FWRIDA,
HELD JANUARY 19th, 1959.
The Regular Meeting of the City Council of the City of Edgewater, Florida,
held January 19th, 1959 was called to order by Mayor George O. Sedgwick at
7:30 P.M.

The Minutes of the Regular Meeting held January 5th, 1959 were presented to
each Councilman for his approval. Motion by Councilman Henry these minutes
be approved as submitted, seconded by Councilman Broga and by vote CARRIED.

Motion by Councilman Shaeffer these bills be paid and be made a part of the
minutes, seconded by Councilman Broga and by vote CARRIED.
COMMUNICATIONS
Letter from Honorable Senator Gautier stating the Vo1usia County Legislative
delegation are holding a public hearing on all proposed legislation throughout
the County during the month of February, 1959 was read.

PROPERTY located WITHIN THE CITY of EOOEWATER, FWRIDA: DIVIDIID: TERRITORY
WITHIN THE CITY LIMITS OF the CITY OF EOOEWATER, FLORIDA, INTO USE DISTRICTS:
DEFININ} CERTAIN TERMS, WORDS AND PHRASES AS USED IN THIS ORDINANCE: PROVIDING
A PENALTY FOR THE. VIOLATION OF THIS ORDINANCE AND REPEALIN:Z ALL ORDINANCES OR
PARTS OF ORDINANCES IN CONFLICT HEREWITH.
The above ordinance was read in full by Attorney Chisholm and motion duly made
by Councilman Broga this ordinance be adopted, seconded by Councilman Shaeffer
and passed by vote of the City Council of the City of Edgewater, Florida, at a
regular meeting held on the 19th day of January, A.D. 1959. Roll call vote

Upon motion duly made by Councilman Shaeffer, seconded by Councilman Farrell
and carried, the requirement of reading said ordinance upon second reading
was waived and the ordinance was ordered put upon final passage.

regular meeting of said council held on the 19th day of January, A.D. 1959

ORDINANCE #220 AMENDIOO SECTION 3 OF ORDINANCE NO. 196 OF THE CITY OF :sdgewater,
VOWSIA COUNTY, FLORIDA.
The above Ordinance was read in full by Attorney Chisholm and motion made by
Councilman Broga this ordinance be adopted, seconded by Councilman Farrell and
passed by vote of the City Council of the City of Edgewater, Florida, at a
regular meeting held on the 19th day of January, A.D. 1959. Roll call vote

Discussion followed on Boston Road being Business District. Motion duly made by
Councilman Broga hhat Boston Road be put back to Pink and Brown respectively,
seconded by Councilman Henry and and by vote CARRIED.
OLD BUSINESS
Bids were received from Owens Brothers and Womack Co. on Paving, Curbing and
Sidewalks on Park Avenue. These bids were read by Mayor Sedgwick, and he stated
he had read the charter pertaining to assessing property owners for sidewalks
and would set up a meeting with the property owners abutting this property for
discussion.
City Hall Plans were presented. Plans had been drawn up by Walter Knapp and he
explained the workings of same. Councilman Shaeffer stated he happened to be the
man to bring up the matter of a new City Hall, and he would like to make a
motion that the Mayor appoint a committee to build and to oversee the construct-
ion of the building of the City Hall, seconded by Councilman Farrell and by vote
CARRIED. Roll call vote being as follows:-

Mayor Sedgwick announced that Dog Tags would be sold January 28th, 1959
from 9:00 to 12:00 A.M. at the Fire Station and Dr. Baldwin would be on
hand to inoculate dogs at that time.
Mayor Sedgwick also announced that everyone should connect up to the
water line as soon as possible for as soon as the water test is O.K. the
City water will be in use and the sooner the connections are made, the
sooner the Plant will be in operation.
Mayor Sedgwick also stated he would like to give some figures from last
year's audit. In the Garbage and Trash collection last year the City
took in $6,199.00 on Garbage Collections and the Department spent
$12,730.00, therefore the increase in the collection cost to each con-
sumer this year.
Councilman Shaeffer asked why the lot on Park Avenue has not been cleaned.
He stated the notice had been sent long ago with no response and he would
like the City to clean and place a lien against this property.
Mr. Sam Gross asked when the trees on Riverside Terrace were going to be
removed. Mayor Sedgwick stated these would be removed as soon as the
County had the heavy equipment back in this area, as it BaS now being used
on the west side of the county and as soon as it was available this work
would be completed.
There being no further business Councilman Farrell moved we do now adjourn,
seconded by Councilman Shaeffer and by vote CARRIED.
