REGULAR HEETING OF THE CITY COUNCIL
OF THE CITY OF EDGEWATER, VOLUSIA
COUNTY, FLORIDA, HELD SEPT. 23rd, 1959.
A Regular Meeting of the City Council of the City of Edgewater, Florida,
held September 23rd, 1959 was called to order by Acting Mayor Crawford C.
Shaeffer at 7:30 P.M.

The purpose of the meeting was re-organization after the Special Election
held September 22nd, 1959.
A letter was read from Councilman C. C. Shaeffer resigning as Councilman
of District #2. Motion duly made by Councilman Henry to accept the re-
signation of Councilman Shaeffer, seconded by Councilman Farrell and by
vote CARRIED.
RESOLUTION
A RESOLUTION DECLARING 'J1HE RESULTS OF THE SPECIAL ELECTION HELD IN THE CITY
OF EDGEWATER, VOLUSIA COUNTY, FLORIDA ON THE 22nd DAY OF SEPTEHBER, A. D.
1959 AND PROVIDING FOR THE ISSUANCE OF CERTIFICATE OF ELECTION TO THE CITY
OFFICER CHOSEN AT SAID ELECTION.
The above and foregoing Resolution declaring Crawford C. Shaffer the duly
elected Mayor at Large was read in full and motion duly made by Councilman
Henry this resolution be adopted, which motion was duly seconded by Council-
man Farrell and by vote CARRIED. Roll call vote being as follows:-

Acting Mayor Shaeffer Yea
The Certificate of Election was delivered and Oath of Office given to Mayor
Crawford C. Shaeffer by the City Clerk.
Hayor Shaeffer then announced he had selected Stanley A. Seng, Sr. to fill
the vacancy in District #2 for the remainder of the term and ask for a
motion to that effect. Motion duly made by Councilman Broga that Stanley
A. Seng, Sr. be appointed to fill the vacancy in District #2 for the remainder
of the term, seconded by Councilman Farrell and by vote CARRIED.
Hayor Shaeffer then stated there should be a Vice-Mayor appointed to act
in the absence of the Mayor. Motion duly made by Councilman Henry that
Councilman Farrell be appointed Vice-Mayor, seconded by Councilman Broga
and by vote CARRIED.
Mayor Shaeffer then made a short speech in which he stated he appreciated
and thanked the people who put their confidence in him and wished to state
he would do his best but would made no promises, but would work for the
betterment of the City and its people as he saw fit. I also wish to thank
the City employees, the office force and the outside help and the City Council.
Mr. Farrell for his assistance in helping out on the street work and if ever
I am fortunate enough to need a foreman I certainly would engage him as he
would made a fine man for the job. Also Mr. Broga for his fine work on the
Council, and Bob here who is doing a fine job. We do not always see eye to

eye, but work together in accord. Ome more thing, I have stood for at
all times and it was one of my babies, and that was single registration.
I also want to thank Mr. Seng for accepting the seal on the Council and
l-ir. Seng, you will be sworn in at the next regular council meeting.
There being no further business Councilman Farrell moved we do now adjourn,
seconded by Councilman Henry and by vote CARRIED.
