NEW BUSINESS
Councilman Smith made a motion that no City checks be signed in advance
before bills are presented for payment. There was no second on this
motion. Councilman Armstrong and Councilman Maler said they were satis-
fied to go along with the procedure of the past.
Councilman Armstrong requested that hereafter the gas used by each sepa-
rate department be kept separate so that we have a record of cost of gas
for each department. Mayor Shaeffer directed that this be done.
Mayor Shaeffer stated that because of all the rain the work on the
shuffleboards had been delayed. Mr. Piser said the last of the drain
fittings were to arrive by bus this night.
11ayor Shaeffer asserted that he was going to crack down on lot cleaning.
Letters would be sent to people owning lots which needed cleaning, with
a ten day limit set for action.

The Mayor made a request that the people burn as much trash as possible,
as there is so much road work required because of 'Washouts caused by
excessive rainfall. Trash would be picked up Wednesday only.
Councilman Armstrong announced that the Southeast Volusia Anti-Mosquito
Control is now doing the fogging. The City equipnent will be used for
special occasions only.
Fire Chief Garlick said he hoped that the Council is satisfied the way
the Fire Department is getting their gas. l-Iayor Shaeffer assured him
that .he and the Council are very pleased with the Fire Department, also
grateful to them; they should continue as heretofore.
Mr. Nat Brown expressed dissatisfaction with land closing items in the
Daytona Beach newspaper, the fact being that Edgewater does not have a
separate caption; it is included in New Smyrna Beach. Mr. Skaggs stated
that he had nothing to do with that particular department but he would
see about it.
Mr. Herman Heinsohn of Queen Palm and 32nd Street protested that he had
had to pay a $2.00 antenna permit last December, and other residents had
no permits. Mayor Shaeffer assured him that this charge had been dis-
continued since then.
Mr. Tedei asked that when roads are being repaired, something be done
about the road leading into the T. E. L. Corporation, now that they are
in active business.
There being no further business Councilman Smith'moved we do now adjourn,
seconded by Councilman Maler and by vote CARRIED.
