A RESOLUTION, AUTHORIZING TRF PAYMENT
TO THB TO"IIN CLERK, THE TO'O11 TREASURER
AND THE TOWN MARSHALL, OF THE TOWN OF
EDGEWATER,VOLUSIA COUNTY FLORIDA, THE
MX AMOUNT OF MONEY NAMED HEREIN, AS
COMPENSATION FOR SERVICES RENDERED THE
TOWN N OF EDGEWATER, IN THEIR OFFICIAL
CAPACITIE3 , AS TOWN CLERK, TOWN TR ASUER:yi
AHD TOWN MARSHALL.
. WHEREAS: Certain specific duties of the Town Clerk,
of the Town Treasurer, and of The Town Marshall, as
named in the Ordinances of The Town of Edgewater, re-
quire certain portions of their time and labor, and
whereas , no provisions has been made for compensation
• to the officers named in tais Resolution, for the per-
forming of said duties , and
WHEREAS: The Town Council deems it proper and advisable
and for the best enterests of the Town 6f Edgewater, to
name and pay to The Town Clerk, the sum mentioned here-
inafter, and to The Town Treasurer, the sum mentioned
hereinafter, and to the Town Marshall, the sum hemtioned
hereinafter,
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED BY THE TOWN COUNCIL OF THE
TOWN OF EDGEWATER, VOLUSIA COUNTY, FLORIDA,
THAT, in accord 4e with the Ordinances of The Town of
Edgewater, provii&&c ,that the sum of 34t7 per
month be paid to The Town Clerk, for his services to The Town
of Edgewater, Flroida, and the sum of 'l 4-%aD per
month be paid to the Town Treasurer of The Town of Edge-
water, Florida, for his ervLces to the Town of Edgewater,
Florida, and the sum of ' ' • er month be paid
to the Town Marshall of the Town of Edgewater, Florida, for
his services of the Town of Edgewater, Florida, such payment
to be made under the supervision of the Finance Committee ,
of the Town of Edgewater, Florida, monthly, ,beginning with
the month beginning on the First Day of November, A.D. 1928,
and continuing each month thereafter, until such time as
The Town Council, in meeting assembled , change or cancel,
Tug proper manner, the provisions of this resolution.
Provided that this Resolution shall take effect imediately '
upon its iassage.
Passed and approved as provided by law this the ath day
of November, A.D. 1928

Upon motion by Ald. Renwick, seconded by Ald. Marx, $
the Resolutiof was adopted as read.
Clerk was instructed to open Tax Books immediately fa.
the Collection of 1928 taxes , allowing a discount of
20 for taxes paid prior to Jan. 1st 1929.
Clark was instructed to post proper notices , of opent 1
ing of tax books , running a notice in New Smyrna Brea
ze , and New Smyrna News , one time each, in each paper
in November and December 1928 , also to post notices in
public places in Edgewater.
Mr.Lobenthal, rejsresenting :.Mr.Harry Sams , of New Smyrna
was present and sopke to Council about Bonds for the
Town officers. After discussion it was decided that
Clerks bond should be increased to 43,000 , and that
the Marshall, not heretofore bonded, be bonded in the
sum of 41,000 , also that treasurers Bonds be renewed
at its present amount , i.e. 42 ,000.
Motion by Ald. Marz seconded by Ald.. Renwick, clerk xasr
is instructed to arrange with Mr.Harry Sams for Sends
as follows: Clerk, 43,000 , Treasurer 2,000. Motion carried
Clerk was instructed by Council to make necessary pur-
chases of stationery and office supplies needed for
the proper conduct of his and treasurers office . Such
supplies and stationery to be secured as cheaply as
possible .
Pres. Patch discussed with Council advisability of pur-
chasing fire proof or steel filing cabinet for filing
Town Records , as well as securing a Safety Deposit box
for the keeping of the most valuable papers . The fin-
ance Committee , in conjunction with Mayor Lembeck agreed
to make proper inquiries of cost of such equipment, as
well as arrange for the renting of a Safety Deposit boa
from a local bank.

meeting adjourn. Carried.
