A Special Meeting of the City Council of the City of Edgewater, Florida was called by Councilman Armstrong, Councilman Haler and Councilman Smith at 1:30 P.M., June 9th, 1960. ROLL CALL Mayor C. C. Chisholm Present Present Absent Present Present Present Present The purpose of the meeting was to discuss negotiations with Florida Shores on Agreement which expired May 20th, 1960. Mayor Shaeffer stated the floor was open for discussion. Councilman Armstrong from Zone #4 stated the Agreement with Florida Shores expired as of May 20th and a letter was \'rritten them allowing 20 days for negotiating a new agreement, and so far as he kne\'T they have not complied with our request. I would like for the City Attorney to state '-That action "Te can take. Mayor Shaeffer stated we were not ready for the City Attorney to make any statement. I would like to have a meeting with the parties involved before vie do anything drastic. LavT suits cost money and I am not in favor of going to court if we can negotiate without it. _Councilman Armstrong stated the people of Florida Shores want assurance that the con- tract of May 20th 1957 be fulfilled. Councilman Maler; I agree completely ,dth Councilman Armstrong and I do not see why Florida Shores should object to a cash performance bond. It can be renewed from year to year. Councilman Smith; I will abide by our legal advice as that is "That \'Te have an attorney for. Councilman Armstrong read a statement from the press whereby l-lr. Moynahan stated workers ,dll continue to be kept at the development, "but how large a cre,'l and how much vTill be done, I cannot say." He admitted that canals and streets need attention, but contended that this was a normal maintenance problem. Mayor Shaeffer; I personally think we should have a follow up letter and give them an additional 20 days to negotiate. Motion duly made by Councilman Armstrong the Attorney write a follow up letter giving them an additional 20 days to negotiate or be under process of negotiating from date of letter, seconded by Councilman Maler and by vote Carried.
