MINUTES OF CALLED MEETING OF THE TOWN COUNCIL OF
EDGE'7ATER, HELD MAY 9TH 1927

Meeting called to order at 8:15pm by mayor Zipperer.
President Wilkinson stated the purpose of the meeting, which
was to consider reports regarding nighland shores drainage
canal and to take action regarding the matter.
Minutes ofmprevious meeting dispensed with.
After discussion of 6Ne negotiations with Mr. Barnhart, clerk
read communication from gar. rarnhart, authorizing the Council
to proceed with the opening up and cleaning of the drainage
canal through Highland shores Subdivision, which canal is a
portion of a through canal from Park Avenue to the South canal,
and which has been filled up and covered over with earth by
Highland shores people.
Mr. Patch introduced the following resolution:

WHEREAS, its becomes necessary, for the preservation
of the public health, and the protection of the property of the
Citizensoft the Town of ndger,ater, to open, and to place in
servicable condition, that portion of the drainage canal between
Park Avenue and the vabardy Canal lying within the limits of
Highland Shores Subdivision, which has heretofore been filled in,
covered over, and otherwise obstructed by the developers of said
Highland Shores Subdivision, and;
WHEREAS, the President of Highland shores, incorporated,
has indicated and stated tke willingness of Highland Shores, Inc.,
for the aforesaid drainage canal to be opened, cleaned, and placed
in servicable condition by the Town of Edgewater, the expense of
the same to become a lien on the property affected thereby in
Highland shores Subdivision, in accordance with mutual agreement
between the Council of the Town of idgewater and the said A. S.
Barnhart, President of Highland Shores, incorporated; and in
accordance with Section 1867, vhapter 1, Article 1, Title X,
Division 1, general Revised Statutes of Florida;
BE IT HEREBY RESOLVED BY THE TOWN uOUNCIL OF THE
TOWN OF EDGE WATER, rLORIDA, IN MEETING ASSEMBLED, THAT
Section 1. The aforesaid drainage canal or ditch
traversing the length of Highland whores subdivision, north and
south, west of the Dixie Highway, and east of the Railroad, be and
same hereby is ordered opened, cleaned, and freed of all obstacles
to the free passage of water.
Section 2. The Mayor of the Town of Edgewater is
hereby authorized and directed to proceed with the enforeement of
this resolution.

the President thereupon called for roll call vote,
upon the acceptance of She resolution. The vote was as follows:

The resolution was then declared of full force and
effect, being unanimously passed.
mr. Lohman, moved that the mayor be authorized to
purchase sufficient lumber, and to construct temporary bridges
over this canal when the same is opened, over the streets in
public use. Seconded by mr. nrinckerhoff, and carried.

the meeting was adjourned.
