The Regular Meeting of the City Council of the City of Edgewater, Florida, was called to order by Vice-Mayor Reeves P. Smith, Sr. at 7:30 P.M. on May 2nd, 1960. ROLL CALL Mayor Crawford C. ORDINANCES AN ORDINANCE DESIGNATnm AND APPOINTING A ME1.ffiER OF THE ZONING AND PLANNING BOARD FOR THE CITY OF EDGE'tlATER, FLORIDA. The above Ordinance was read in full by Attorney Chisholm and motion duly made by Councilman Maler this ordinance be adopted, seconded by Councilman Seng and passed by vote of the City Council of the City of Edgewater, Florida, at the regular meeting held May 2, 1960. Passed by vote of the City Council of the City of Edgewater, Florida, at the regular meeting of said Council held May 2, 1960, and approved as pro- vided by law, the vote of said council being as follows:- Councilman Maler Councilman Seng Councilman Armstrong Vice Mayor Smith Hayor Shaeffer RESOLUTIONS Yea Yea Absent Yea Absent A RESOLUTION DECLARING THE INTENTION OF THE CITY OF EDGEWATER, FLORIDA, TO VACATE THAT PART OF KUl-1QUAT DRIVE BETWEEN 16th AND 17th STREETS IN FLORIDA SHORES, AND PROVIDING FOR THE SERVING OF NOTICE UPON THE ABUTTING PROPERTY ()!,Vtv:ERS, AND THE TIME AND PLACE AT "VlHICH OBJECTIONS CAN BE HEARD BEFORE THE CITY COUNCIL. The above and foregoing resolution was presented by Councilman Seng who moved its adoption, said motion being seconded by Councilman Maler, and upon roll call vote, the said resolution was duly declared adopted at the regular meeting of said Council, held on the 2nd day of May, 1960, the vote of said Council on said roll call being Councilman Maler Councilman Seng Councilman Armstrong Vice~layor Smith Mayor Shaeffer Yea Yea Absent Yea Absent The Clerk then ask the Council to consider an Agreement with the National Cash Register Company covering the Billing Machine, which agreement covers parts and service for a year at $86.00 per year. Four service calls guaranteed per year. This was discussed and motion duly made by Councilman Seng we enter into this agreement, for five years if possible, seconded by Councilman Maler and by vote CAR..ltIED. Roll call vote being as follows:- Councilman Maler Councilman Seng Councilman Armstrong Acting Mayor Smith Mayor Shaeffer Absent Yea Yea Absent Yea Mr. Piser ask what was being done on the Park & Pier. He stated it looked worse since the City took it over than it did before. Acting Mayor Smith stated the Mayor was supposed to get help from County Prisoners, but he could not tell them anything at present as he was not familiar with it. He stated he had filled in some dirt and bulldozed it over, but it was the Mayor's oblig- ation, so he would appreciate it if they "\Iiould hold off until the Mayor'S retuan. Mrs. Goodrich ask if there could not be some signs put up on the highway designating a Wayside Park. Attorney Chisholm was instructed to v~ite a letter to the highway department asking if they would erect such signs. . G u 'v II () ~~. Teidi ask about getting the resume speed sign moved below the City Limits as it is dangerous where it is now on the Highway, 5~pecially turning into Florida Shores. He was informed the City diHlnave control over setting the speed on the highway. Mrs. Murton stated the Chamber of Commerce and the Civic Association had ask the highway department to place these signs below the City limits and also install a traffic light at Park Ave. and the Highway and she had personally contacted them and no no avail. Mr. Palmateer ask if a recount could be made at this time to try and get the traffic light back on Park Ave. He was informed that a good many citizens had already left for the north and it would be a poor time to ask for this recount. Acting Mayor Smith stated at this time he would like to make a statement about speeding. I cover this City six or eight times a day and see quite a few violations. You do not have to be a Special Police to report any violations. All you have to do is call the Police Department and be will- ing to appear against the violator. vie vrill not tolerate speeding. Local residents and strangers will be treated alike in court. There being no further business Councilman Seng moved we do now adjourn, seconded by Councilman Maler and by vote CARRIED.
