Sikes of Palmway Street stated it was unfair to the present property ovmers to have to pay, as several streets in the City have been paved at no cost to the abutting property owners, and Mayor Shaeffers predecessor had promised to pave Palmway, but he was not infavor of paying for" it when other streets had been paved free. This was discussed and again Mayor Shaeffer pointed out the Legislature at the last session granted the Cities the right to assess for these improvements and place a lein against the property, but the City did not have any intention to do this as the cost of this paving was so little I am sure all could pay their share. This is the only way this Council vall handle it. Councilman Armstrong stated he had about 25 miles of streets in his district that wanted their streets paved and this viaS impossible. The reporters were instructed to place a notice in the papers advertising the round table discussion for property owners on Flagler Avenue and Rhode Island Avenue at 7:30 Wednesday Evening, March 9th.
