NEw BUSINESS
Mayor Shaeffer stated he would like to say our Fire Department has made eight
runs since last November and everyone of them were for brush fires. The
majority of these were caused by negligence. Bunning of lots is prohibited
until the person who starts the fire notifies the fire department or City Hall
for consent. Last week one day at New H~npshire and U.S. #1 a fire just about
got two houses. This case was settled in Court and a fine imposed. I might
state from here out the City Council and myself will not tolerate this any
longer and I will make a case out of any such action, if a permit is not obtained
before starting a fire. I do not mean you cannot start a fire to burn trash
if you stay with it, but I will not tolerate the kind of burning that has been
going on. I hope you will spread the word around.
Councilm~~ Armstrong stated he was working on certain projects, but was not
ready to give a report.
Councilmffi1 Smith ask vmy there was no police report. Every other City has
police activities reported every month. This was discussed and motion duly
made by Councilman Smith that all reports from the different departments be
in for the 1st meeting of the month. No second. Councilman Seng suggested
the reports be in by the 2nd meeting of the month. This was discussed and
Councilman Smith with drew his motion and stated he would go along with the
suggestion of Councilman Seng the reports be in by the second meeting.
Motion was then duly made by Councilman Seng these reports be in for the second
~e.ting of the Council, seconded by Councilman Smith and by vote CARRIED.
