The Regular Meeting of the City Council of the City of Edgewater, Florida, held December 7th, 1959 was called to order by Mayor Crawford C. Shaeffer at 7:30 P.M. ROIL CAIL Mayor Crawford C. Driskel, Sec'y Edgewater Municipal Park & Pier Committee; Bankers Life & Casualty Co. OFFICERS REPORT The Clerk read the Clerk's Cash Statement and the Budget Report for the month of November, 1959. Also the Building Inspectors Report. Mrs. Thelma Hennig, Chairman of the Library Board read the report on the Library. RESOLUTIONS None ORDINANCES AN ORDINAI\TCE At'1ENDING SECTION 4 OF ORDINANCE NO. 142, EI\TTITLED "AN ORDINANCE REGULATING INSTALLATION, REPAIR AND MAINTENANCE OF TELEVISION AND RADIO RE- CEIVING ANTENNA". The above Ordinance was read in full by Attorney Chisholm and motion duly made by Councilman Armstrong this Ordinance be tabled until the next regular meeting for study, seconded by Councilman Maler and by vote CARRIED. OLD BUSINESS None NEW BUSDjESS Letter from Park & Pier, turning over the Park and Pier for City to complete this work. Motion duly made by Councilman Seng the City accept the Park and Pier with a letter of thanks to be written to the men working on this project, seconded by Councilman Smith and by vote CARRIED. With assistance being promised by Dr. Wilbur, Chairman of Florida Water Access and Safety Commission and Florida Fish and Wildlife Federation, I as Mayor wish to appoint a Park & Pier Committee of George Driskel, Harry Broga, Falco DelPizzo, John Grafton, Richard Hanson and Jom1 Morrocco to work with these orgro1izations. Letter from State of Florida, Attorney General. Motion duly made by Council- man Seng we order the Florida Statutes at this time, seconded by Councilman Armstrong and by vote CARRIED. Roll call vote as follows:- - Councilman Maler Yea Councilman Seng Yea Councilman Smith Yea Councilman Armstrong Yea Mayor Shaeffer Yea .....-.-- - - BIDS ON POLICE CAR Bids on a New Police car vlere read from iV'atkins "Ford", Inc., Nieburger Chevro- let Company and New Smyrna Motors. Mayor Shaeffer stated he would appoint three Councilmen to study and campare bids with specifications. The follovling vlere named:- Councilman Seng, Chairman, Councilman Smith and Councilman Armstrong. Councilman Maler ask if there were any objections to his serving on this committee also. Mayor Shaeffer stated he would be glad to have him serve on this committee. He ask the committee to meet as soon as possible and call a Special Meeting when the decision had been made. Councilman Armstrong stated the first he knew about another police car was at 7:00 o'clock, but presumably bids had been ask for but I did not know about it. , v .~-=- ~ ~. . v v u Councilman Smith stated he wished to say a few words. I wish to th~~ the people for their patience and understanding over the past holiday. We had few complaints, and we did receive wonderful cooperation. The work did pile up fast, but the men deserved a holiday and we are gradually getting caught up and I wish to thank you for your patience. Councilman Armstrong. Regarding guard rail on Riverside Drive and Indian River Boulevard. It is not up and it was promised two weeks ago. Hayor Shaeffer stated this was promised two weeks ago as he stated, but that is the cooperation we get from the County. Councilman Smith stated if the County would furnish the material he thought the City crews could put it up. Mayor Shaeffer stated he would speak to Nr. Saxon again about it and see if it could not be put up immediately. Mayor Shaeffer stated the Zoning and Planning Board had not been appointed yet, but would be appointed at the next regular meeting and the old board would still act until new appointments were made. Mr. Palmateer. Regarding the lowering of culvert under R.R. track. Is there anything to report at this time? Hayor Shaeffer stated it was in the hands of the Attorney, the Railroad Company had turned thumbs down, and the City of Edgewater does not have money to do this job. Mr. Hanson stated the price of $5,000 was exortitant to do this job. It should not be that expensive. Mr. Palmateer questioned whether Mr. Hanson was an engineer and could estimate the cost of this job. ~~. Palmateer was informed he couldcome into the City hall and read letters from the engineers. There being no further business Councilman Smith moved we do now adjourn, seconded by Councilman Seng and by vote CARRIED.
